As an old fart I just don't understand the frenzy about having to be first in getting something one hasn't had for an entire life.

Maybe, just maybe my posts about patience make some people pause and think what is important in life?
Hint : It's not receiving an iPhone IMMEDIATELY after release.
idk.. it's not even a frenzy.

ordered one on monday 14th afternoon (grey 64).. it's already shipped and will be here friday at latest.

as in- newly released iphone, no waiting in lines, no trigger happy refreshes at 3am, no waiting for a month to deliver, etc.. just a few mouse clicks on a monday afternoon.. same setup if i ordered it 4 months from now.

hey wait.. you live in oregon.. you can't stand in the iphone line even if you wanted to.. it's gone ;)
Exactly, and this is the first year they've implemented these new rules!

Never have stood in the line and never will. Majority of the line is scalpers and foreigners and are very annoying. I'll always pre-order or wait!

That sequence works for me:) Now I am waiting for ATT to offer a promo to drop the upgrade fee of $ 45 and we are good to go.

Portland downtown. I know, I know. What was I thinking. I'm driving up Thursday and crashing with friends. I like being able to just show up mid morning (when my appointment is) and knowing there is one waiting for me. Of course I'll still show up early.

And Yeah, I'm in southern Oregon. Okay fast food burgers now being here aside, the fact that I am driving four and half hours to pick up my phone does seem ridiculous. (But I really want to join the apple upgrade program, so it's worth it.) Fortunately next year at this time I will be living far closer to a apple store, so it won't be such a long drive.
Thats awesome, man. Don't be ashamed. I really like the new downtown store, only Pre-Ordered at Bridgeport because its much closer and a less hassle with Rush hour traffic for me.

Pretty jealous of your new fast food chain by the way ;) hopefully they will get one up here by the time you move up as well!

Because they're trying to eliminate the exploitation of the homeless. I don't see anything wrong with this.
Exploitation?

No one is forcing the homeless to do anything. They are given an offer, and if they choose to accept it, that's their problem. Heck, a lot of them are probably happy for this opportunity to make some cash.

There has been a line at the Flagship Apple store on 5th Avenue for almost 2 weeks. I walked by and the first 2 people on line on sponsored by the iPhone buyback company BuyBackWorld
I believe it is a publicity stunt as they have sponsored line sitters for several years now. I don't believe they are restricting sales due to the Pope's visit but there is sure to be extra security. I don't think they were allowed to sit in chairs or sleep in tents. That is a very long time to be standing!

I can't believe somebody is actually paying that. I wonder if the transaction actually went through.

Apple Store in Alaska still welcomed walk-ins btw! The right side is the reservation line. Overall experience wasn't great, the iPhone Upgrade Program credit check process was horrible. I ended signing up with AT&T Next unfortunately.
