I'm with Nokia on this. It's been shown time and again that Apple tries to strong arm these negotiations and are often successful. Then they complain when someone else does it back. Nokia might not be the giant it once was, but they definitely spent time, money and resources for years on developing tech we all take for granted today. As someone who worked in the industry once upon a time ago, they are entitled to their cut.

Cool story bro.

Apple never sued anyone with Rockstar, but after this, they should do that.

That's what Nokia and other Android OEMs deserve.

Apple *sued* Android makers, Google, Samsung Electronics, ZTE, LG Electronics, HTC, Pantech, and Asustek in Plano, Texas. Google asked to hear the case in the North Cal district and the federal appeal court, realizing that Apple had substantial stake in this sham, agreed to move the case to the Northern district court. That's when Rockstar agreed to settle with all parties, rather than embarrassing Apple.

correction : Rockstar "sued", not Apple.

This is the exact tactic Apple had tried to use against Android with their Rockstar Consortium -- until Google successfully convinced the court that Apple was orchestrating it behind the curtain and moved the case from TX to CA.

Why is it ok when Apple does it, but "deplorable" when someone else does it?

OMG really? You should totally cite that here so we can:
1. Discuss how the precedent relates.
2. Believe that was a thing.

I can never remember who has a better memory than me. Can you direct someplace so I can refresh my memory?

If Nokia wasn't playing shady crap like moving patents around to get around their FRAND responsibilities, then yes, Nokia would be in the right. But since they are playing these dirty patent games and moving their patents to patent troll companies, then Apple is in the right. Nokia is cheating to try to get more money than they are entitled to for those patents and they should lose.
