I don't think it looks anything like the ipad because I know but the use of aluminium and placement of buttons etc is a dead giveaway for copycat behaviour. It'll unfortunately not help them sell any just by making it look the same.

It's pretty insane that Nokia went from the biggest mobile manufacturer in the world, to declining, to being bought out by Microsoft, and the only thing left of old Nokia is they're making cheap Chinese iPad clone knockoffs running Android. How the mighty are non-existent. Luckily Apple has already had their scare in the 90s and learned their lesson. Instituting the Apple University and other things will help ensure that future employees don't repeat the same mistakes. They still have much to learn, however, but I don't ever see Apple ending up like this—at least not for the next 30 years. They probably won't be the biggest company forever, but they'll stay quite relevant.

Wait, where is the iPad inspired design? I think they forgot it in the article, all I see is an iPad. :p

Oh Nokia, that is such a blatant rip off.

I don't know what sort of Koolaid people on here are drinking, but this looks absolutely nothing like an iPad Mini, not even close.

About the only similarity is that they're both rectangles.

During today's opening of the Slush 2014 conference, Nokia announced its new N1 tablet, the first device from the Finnish company following the sale of its mobile division to Microsoft. With its aluminum casing, curved styling and 7.9-inch screen, the N1 is a dead ringer for Apple's iPad mini.

Powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop and Nokia's Z launcher, the Nokia N1 ships with a 2.3GHz Intel Atom processor, PowerVR GPU, 2GB of RAM and a 7.9-inch Retina-resolution display. Other hardware specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera and connectivity options that include 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0.

Similar to Apple's Lightning connector, the N1 includes a reversible USB Type-C connector for charging and syncing. The port is located on the bottom edge of the tablet and is nestled between the tablet's two speaker openings. When it launches next year, the N1 will be available in Lava Grey and Natural Aluminum colors with one storage capacity option of 32GB.

The N1 will ship with Nokia's flavor of Android and the company's branding, but it will be manufactured and distributed by Nokia partner Foxconn. Foxconn will handle support and most other product responsibilities. The N1 will launch first in China in Q1 2015 for $249USD with plans for expansion to other regions.

Nokia is just the latest manufacturer to announce a tablet device that looks remarkably similar to Apple's iOS device lineup. Just weeks ago, Lenovo introduced its S90 tablet that shares a number of design elements with Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, with Lenovo even using marketing images reminiscent of Apple's advertising.

Don't see this mattering too much going forward. If the iPhone 6 plus keeps its size or grows then iPad mini will wither away. The way I see it is small and large iPhone and medium and large iPad that way all avenues are covered

I'm not sure, rounded vs chamfered edges.
no lock button
no home button
different colours
different OS

The white hand in both pics do look the same, so I think he might be onto something;)

On a serious note I do think the N1 has some of the feel of the iPhone 6 because of the rounded corners. I think even Apples best lawyer would have a hard time prove customers confused the iPhone and the Nokia N1.

No, it was released in November. It's called the Spice Mi-549. Look it up.

Edit: Whoops, I was thinking about a different iPhone 6 clone. I meant to say Lenovo S90 Sisley, which was also released in November. It was first leaked last month.

Which galaxy had that? I have been trying to find it.

I thought the phones were Samsung's too since the laptop and mini computer were. I think the iPhone 6 looks more like the S5 than the the Samsung's looked like the 5S, and the Galaxy S5 was released before the iPhone 6. But it looks like I am wrong since the phones shown aren't Samsung's. Sorry for the confusion.

Actually if you think about it, Nokia going into android might be a huge leap to bring the forward, if they can crack the right android tablet they may still have a small future.

Now if they went with Android on phones they could even have competed better than samsung. CNET's "Adventure's In Tech" has a nice video about Nokia if they chose Android.

They own the mobile division

No they don't. MS bought the wireless division (cell phones) of Nokia. Nokia is still Nokia.

This is from the remnants of Nokia that Microsoft doesn't own.
Nothing to do with MS's Nokia.

I don't think so

Just the phone and devices where purchased by MicroSoft.

Ths tablet is from what is left of Nokia.

Sorry i thought tablets would fall under that but i guess not.

LOL, Lava Grey??

They are really grasping at straws when naming these new "colors".

If I recall Lava is not Grey, even when solidified its quite dark nowhere close to what this is...

Lava Gray is also a color choice on Audi cars.

Absolutely pathetic. I hate all these copying companies.

Yes cause Apple invented aluminum fillet edges and flat rectangular aluminum buttons.

iPhone 6 design is Apple complying with the market and doing what everybody else is doing. Nothing revolutionary design wise here.

Google Nokia Lumia phones and you will see both fillet aluminum edges and flat aluminum rectangular buttons that inspired iPhone 6.

I thought it looked like the iPhone 6, but the really copied the Lumia 820 and made it bigger.

I would so get a Red Nokia N1

I expected this from samesung not Nokia who was bought by Microsoft just embarrassing really. But an home button and called it nPad.
All those Apple bashers within Nokia/M and their loyals must be cringing in a small corner

Call me an anti Apple player here if u must, but this tablet is actually not that bad..

Considering it's Nokia.... who would of thought Nokia could actually innovate to this level ...

Well done...

This is just such a shame. From a great, innovative company to being a copycat unable to compete in the market place. Still remember the day when Nokia phones used to rule the world :(
