...Why is everyone being so hard on the OP? It is really upsetting to scratch up your brand new phone. A lot of us ordered cases and then our phones arrived before the cases. I still have not received the case I ordered on 9-14! I ordered a second one when my phone arrived but I still had two days of nakedness.

Correction: It's upsetting to some people. When I get my iPhone, I don't want to scratch it either, but I also won't make a big deal over it or seek to replace it if I do, unless it's a noticeable scratch on the screen.

The 5 doesnt seem as sturdy as the past ones from what I'm seeing. I was terrified my 4 would shatter like think ice if it dropped and it took falling corner first on concrete after it bounced off the table and the chair. My 4S has been dropped all over the place in a rubber ifrogz case and still holding strong. I may have to get an otterbox that I actually use for the 5 :(

To the OP: How's the Camera working, considering that your bongo is right on that corner portion? :(

After a drop I'd be more concerned about the innards getting knocked loose.

It's still amazes me that people don't protect there phones with a good case like an Otterbox defender . If you had used an Otterbox there would be no need for this thread:D

I'm sorry, but the otterbox cases are ridiculous. It's like buying a Porche and hanging spare tires around it like a tugboat.

The Otterbox cases are very unattractive in my opinion as well. But they do protect the phone. Personally I'd rather take my chances with a nice snap-on like my Case-Mate Barely There.

OP, drop it a few more times until it does not work then use your Applecare Plus.

If you dont have it call up apple and add it. Then drop your phone a few more times.

I won't argue with you there. They protect it alright. As long as you don't mind carrying around a giant brick. :D

my white iphone 5 is pristine. therefore my iphone 5 is better than your iphone 5!!! <end sarcasm>

that's pretty much what goes through people's mind who obsess over the appearance of their iphone 5.

I had my phone in my lap while driving my car. Got out the car and my phone hit the ground. Now I have a terrible looking scratch on it. Im so sad!! Wondering if my 90 day apple warranty covers any cosmetic damage. I also bought the square trade warranty for two years the day I bought the phone.
I tried to call them all day but been on hold for over 15 minutes...my case wont be here until next week.

Awww dude, I've done the same thing! I used to have a bad habit of leaving it between my legs and then when I got off the car, CRASH! Stopped doing that a looong time ago because I too like my phones scratch-less and pristine.

Another thing, in my experience it almost seems as those after your first drop, their is some rule in a rule book where it says you will get more drops more frequently after that first one, it never fails me.:D

So I just make sure and don't drop it at ALL.

Just return it ! you have 30 days

Dang dude that really sucks. Sorry about that. I was going to ask if you had just opened it up new from the box...

All I see is an overreaction.

What is is with you anyway? I don't understand why you comment in all these threads.

Why don't you get out a bit, because being annoyed by internet message board threads shows an unhealthy obsession.

Just a suggestion, you can take it or leave it.

I can imagine the string of profanity I would emit if I did that. Considering all things, however, it seems to have held up well. A 4 series would probably have at least a broken back plate.

Did you purchase it using your credit card? If so, call your credit card company and find out if they have a free 90 day accidental damage, theft, or loss coverage.

Most cards do. In addition, they extend your standard warranty by 1 year. My CitiBank MasterCard and AMEX both have these perks, free of charge.

With AMEX, you can call or file a claim online. Once they receive the broken item, they'll credit you for the purchase price on your credit card.

If you purchased it with the subsidized price, that might be an issue.

I don't understand why people who are immensely OCD over the appearance of their phone don't get cases. It's really not complicated.

Not really an issue with the subsidized price. File the claim and say you want to get it repaired (actually swapped) at the Apple store for $229. You charge $229 to the card and they'll reimburse you up to the subsidized price or $229, whichever is less.

Same could be said about EVERYBODY ON THIS FORUM!

The phone still function perfect, no camera problems at all. Its light but very solid
