I'm gonna start selling a touch up kit, it will come with a black magic marker. $19.95..

In the beginning of my tread I only asked if the 90 warranty covered "COSMETIC" damage. I never asked for a new phone!! I guess Im not rich like everyone on this forum.
I paid a lot of money for that phone and I was upset I damaged it. I try to take care of my things, unfortunately this one was damaged. Before my protect case arrived. In the end it was my fault. I just wanted to hear some perspectives from other people about my options.

Actually a good idea. That aluminum is very soft

It's still amazes me that people don't protect there phones with a good case like an Otterbox defender . If you had used an Otterbox there would be no need for this thread:D

It amazes me that people love keeping their iPhone in pristine condition so much that they buy the ugliest, biggest, bulkiest case they can find and cover up the phone. Why keep it nice if you can't see it anyway?

Nobody buys a Lamborghini and wraps it in bubble wrap.

Funny story had a guy at work use a marker on his black car. Sounded stupid but you could hardly tell from more then a foot away. BTW it was a permanent marker if that makes a difference.

Not all cases are big and bulky, I have a gel type case on mine and it hardly increased the overall size. I got it to protect the phone from getting scratched up, if it gets dropped there is a chance it may get a dent but that's kind of to be expected. I also have a HD screen protector for protection as well, I like to protect my devices but at the same time don't want to add bulk and weight to it.

The Otterbox Defender is not bad at all. Not as bulky as I thought it would be. I didn't take the plastic off of the phone until it went into the Otterbox. I know the OP's case hadn't come in yet, but I'm surprised more people don't protect their investment with a case.

I'm sorry, but the otterbox cases are ridiculous. It's like buying a Porche and hanging spare tires around it like a tugboat.

Wow....i didn't see that coming! just googled the otterbox......Why on earth would you......i'm sorry its just wrong, wrong i tell you!

Looks like a pretty nasty gouge out the corner.

I dropped a previous iPhone once, landed on the corner and slid about four feet face down on concrete. Never again will I use an iPhone outside without a case.

Indoors? No problem. Outdoors? Nope.

Sorry but I paid $700+ for my phone and want it protected cause I live in a tough environment for phones. It will also add to the resell value of my phone . I have never had a scratch on any of my phones and have dropped my Iphone multiple times in the past so I am sorry naked phone people but an Otterbox case is a must have item and it not ugly at all . Most of you bashing this case have never even owned one or even seen one in person  so no need to hate . Bottom line is the case works great and makes the phone larger and gives the phone a better feel :D

I think an otterbox is uglier than that scratch.

could not agree more.

Just seen the pics, is that it?! Dude at first I thought you meant your screen had a huge scratch in it. Not that little scuff.

It will happen, it's something you use everyday.

I had my phone in my lap while driving my car. Got out the car and my phone hit the ground. Now I have a terrible looking scratch on it. Im so sad!! Wondering if my 90 day apple warranty covers any cosmetic damage. I also bought the square trade warranty for two years the day I bought the phone.
I tried to call them all day but been on hold for over 15 minutes...my case wont be here until next week.

Exactly how I broke my 4s, except it hit more of an angle and shattered the front screen. I think I'll be getting a case for my 5... soon as iSkin can make one that isn't loose as ****.

Your scratches don't look that bad - I'd be happy with a unique iPhone and keep using it - if it was me. But that's how I am. :p

Because otter boxes are so lo-profile and sleek.
/s..I can't stand otter box cases.

Buff off the entire black band, and bezel. It will look great.

Otter box cases serve ONE purpose. And that's to protect the phone. And they do protect it..but at the expense of looking horrible and adding a ton of bulk.
