well I ordered my macbook aug 17th. I finally have a tracking number for it as of 2 hours ago. They supposedly upgraded my shipping to 3 day, but it is still saying delivery by the 11th... I am not holding my breath for Merom though. With any luck it will come out the day after we all get our macbooks.

I ordered a BTO MB on the 25th, I was told be here by the 30th. I am not really that mad, because there was nothing poor call centre people could have done to prevent it.
That being said, I would have liked it if Apple would have realized how popular their MacBooks are becoming and with back to school it would be crazy busy.
I definately dont think that Merom will be put in them, I just dont see any reason why. I am assuming it will be released SHORTLY after the shipments are caught up with.

Well i just rang Apple AGAIN, and they are completely confused over my order. Apparently it has missed 4 shipping dates and now they are checking with the order team or something like that. They are ringing me back, so i'll let you know what is happening

ok i just called apple for about the fourth time since i ordered my mb bto and the customer service rep could not even tell me when my computer would be shipped. she said however that i would get an email within 24 hours telling me when it would be shipped. has anyone else done this? how long is the next delay?

I just checked and actually ordered it on the 16th, so maybe yours is right behind mine

A couple days ago I got the spiel about how I couldn't change the order because FedEx had processed it. It was delayed 3 times and each time they told me that it would ship as scheduled. I truly believe the dates they give you are intend to be accurate and that they hope to fulfill the order. You and the customer service people have to assume that it will go out by then.
The other option when experiencing backups is to give out a shipping date several days or a week later than they actually expect. That way when they DO ship it you are happy it got out "early." That aspect is nice, but the rest of the time people are upset with the long delays.
