True, yellow screens have been around for awhile. I'm just saying he never would have used one personally. You disagree? In his bio, we learned that he argued about the shade of grey used on the mens bathroom sign.

He was so bizarre about certain things that I wouldn't even want to guess at what would or wouldn't set him off. But the fact that yellow tints were reported in previous generations might be a clue - no idea.

Well if it isnt good enough for the founder of the company, it isn't for me. And I'll hold the company accountable until they deliver me the best possible product.

Shocking statement? It isn't if you accept that there are multiple variations of this product on the market RIGHT NOW. Some have beautiful clear screens. Others have dingy yellow screeens. I won't accept an inferior version due to luck of the draw. If the pad is supposed to have a clear screen, then my pad will have a clear screen. End of story.

Now if all pads had the yellow display, and it just was what it was, we wouldnt be talking. i simply would never have bought one. But a superior version exists in the market. Thats the one I'll be getting.

If some people want the warmer screens (or as you call them dingy yellow screens) then let them be. Why would or should they care how you feel, I know I sure don't. If you want the bluer screen then go get one, but stop trying to push that they are better than anything else.

Whichever screen I have looks wonderful to me, I don't know if it's blue or yellow or pink or green, nor do I care. I haven't compared it to any other product side by side because I don't need to. I took one look at it and loved what I saw. My girlfriend feels the same way about hers.

My new iPad's screen is a ugly yellow one, but that was to be expected. I went through 14 iPad 2's to get one that could come close to displaying white as pure white without a lot of backlight bleed or other issues. The iPad is a pure luxury item, so burning through a dozen of them to get a "perfect" one is just part of it. It's not my fault Apple uses multiple display suppliers, and some subpar ones at that.

I can only imagine your car buying process....

True statement, and I agree with you. I think, though, that if you saw a truely yellow disply, not just a little warm, but seriously yellow, you'd see what I'm saying. Theres a serious lack of contrast. Things just dont pop or look that good. You likely wouldnt be impressed by it.

Then you probaby got one with correct tint. Cause no one is talking about text sharpness in this thread.

Mine hass a slight yellow tint to it. I guess I just don't really care. Looking at my old iPad screen (with a cool blue tint) makes me never want to go back using the older model.

Cool man, sounds like youre golden

Just want to go on record that the yellowing is 100% not glue or some crap like that. It never has been never will be. Yellow tint screens never change tint. End of story. Stop spreading this falsehood

Mine on my iPhone 4s did, not blotches but entire screen was tinted yellow, I compared it to my iPad 2 when I got it, a few weeks later it was better. And I was freaking out about this at the time.

So maybe some are permanent for some reason, so by all means if people are not happy, return it and wait a few weeks or months. I almost returned my 4s, and very thankful I waited, and I did not just get use to it, my 4s is now actually more white than my iPad 2.

Have some not cleared, maybe, but people have had the yellow tint on past devices clear up, this is a fact, not falsehood.

This is definitely possible. I would say the screens on mine and my girlfriends are exactly what we wanted and there are no complaints from my side one way or the other. I'm not saying there aren't bad screens out there, they produce millions of these things so there will be duds here or there.

I see what you did there. :p

This can be argued back and fourth all day. Bottom line; each person has to get theirs and decide for themselves if they are happy with the display.

Too many times though folks come in this forums and read this stuff, then they start comparing and if they notice the screen is just a slight bit warmer they start freaking out. "I got one of the bad ones" When in reality they don't!

I have seen not in this new iPad, but in recent past versions that their are some screens that are screwed and YES terribly yellow. Those should be returned.

This comparison game though is non-sense and folks need to look at their screen and then decide if its acceptable to them and not buy into this "Oh my screen is yellow" just because they read something about it on a forum.

The voice is reason is silent here friend. Try elswhere ;)

Jesus what a waste of your energy. You sound like you have higher standards than apple for quality.

I've purchased iPads with severe backlight bleed, uneven brightness, dead pixels, fingerprints and trash on the backside of the display's glass. I've gone through some that had a yellow tint, greenish-yellow tint, pinkish tint. You name it, but all had some type of display quality issue. It's the one thing Apple will never get consistently right at a fixed $499 price point, and probably why every iPad version to date has had this same issue.

A waste of my energy would be to roll over and accept poor quality as the new normal. What kind of signal does that send?

Just picked up my new iPad and I am NOT impressed. There is absolutely no difference between iPad 2 and iPad (3rd Generation). If I would have known I would have never sold my iPad 2. Oh well iPad is still awesome.

Pull up Kindle or iBooks on each model side by side. You will see the difference. If you don't, you need to see an optometrist.

Is the a joke? Where is your sarcasm emoticon?

There is no comparison between the two display's

I was just expecting more I guess. really no need for an iPad 2 owner to upgrade unless their obsessed fans like myself and many others on these boards.

I disagree my GOD folks really have poor eyesight if they don't see the huge difference in crisp text and super bright clear graphics.

Also as you do more with it, you'll notice the speed difference too.

These kneejerk open the box and expecting to be just blown away amaze me. Use the darn thing for awhile and if you don't see any difference, let us know. We'll making you a freaking eye exam appointment! :p

Yes, adjust the bright on both to about 75% and view them at about 12-14 inches away (typical viewing distance.)

The new iPad will look slightly sharper but not a dramatic difference.

Also, I believe people are confusing 100% brightness on the new iPad, in which they have not adjusted as making the new screen dramatically better than an iPad/IPad2.
A simple adjustment to make them in equal brightness & normal viewing distance (using common sense) will help shed some light(or less light) on the comparison on how much of a real difference there really is between the new and older iPad's.

*If your viewing distance is less than 12", may be you should get your eyes checked. (I'm serious).

Nonesense! Every single word of it! hehehe :p

Well, we know you're sucking down placebo's, because the iPad 2 and the new benchmark at *precisely* the same level from an execution/processor/memory standpoint.

And frankly, I'm with the OP to a large extent. Until it gets to fine detail, it can be hard to notice the differences.

Nothing wrong with being a fan, I'm one too. I'm with you on the differences.
