Just wanted to give a heads up that I still haven't seen any reporting on a Thanksgiving challenge this year, and I didn't get a notification about it today (I usually get my challenge notifications when I wake up, the day prior to the event) so I'm guessing it's a no go. In looking into it, it seems that Apple had the challenge in 2016 & 2017, but not 2018, then again in 2019 & 2020, so perhaps, they have it on a 2 year on, 1 year off cycle.
I've not gotten a notification, either, for tomorrow. I usually get a notification for them, so I'm presume there isn't a Thanksgiving 5K this year.

Macrumors just posted a story that Apple is doing a Ring in the New Year challenge: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/12/14/apple-watch-new-year-activity-challenge/

The challenge requires you to close all 3 rings 7 days in a row. It starts January 1, but I seem to remember that last year you could get the badge as early as January 1 i you closed all 3 rings for the last 6 days of December & then again in January 1.

I got this one.

in case anyone missed the announcement on the front page, there are potentially two Apple Watch challenges in February.

The Unity challenge is the same as last year (as I remember it) where you get it by closing your move ring 7 days in a row.

There is also a Lunar New Year challenge, but that might only be available in countries that celebrate Lunar New Year. You earn it by completing a workout of at least 20 minutes between Feb 1-15.

Nice! I got a notification for the Unity one, but not the Lunar New Year, but if I go into the Fitness app on my phone, I can see both of them in there.

Thanks for the heads up. I was all prepared to change my region to try to get the Lunar one, but this is even better.

I haven’t received a notification for neither one yet.
If you open the fitness app on your phone, then Click on awards & scroll down to the Awards section, then scroll down to the bottom of the Limited Edition Challenges, you should see them in there.

I know where to look for them. I haven’t received a notification for them yet and they haven’t appeared yet. I frequently check this thread to see if anyone mentions a new challenge. It’s the only way I find out about them.

Last night, I happened to come across this & maybe it will help some of those who aren't getting notified about upcoming special challenges. On the watch, in the settings app, if you scroll down to Activity, there is a slider button for Special Challenges. If that's turned off, you won't get notified.

Not saying that it will help everyone, but figured I'd pass it along in case it somehow got turned off for some people.
