Was looking at the iPhone XS Max to upgrade from my iPhone X as I find the screen of the iPhone X too small. But when I saw the prices today in the Apple store, I lost all interest.

I remember those days when the TOTL fully spec’ed iPhone was less than $1000. In a few years, Apple will ask over $2000 for it?

I’m so glad I saw this. I have been wondering for weeks if you were going to upgrade. Thank you for finally letting me know. Now I can sleep at night.

The products are priced due to what the market is willing to buy...so therefore for many the pricing is not an issue

I thought the same way as you at first but I couldn’t pass up on the Max. It’s the phone I always wanted. Plus size with no bezels.

It is also future proof. I don’t expect to upgrade for at least 2 years. The XS Max is a beast. The display is jaw dropping. I don’t even reach for my iPad any more. Games and movies are a pleasure to play and watch on the Max display. I hold my X and it feels cramped in comparison.

This is true.

Unfortunately for me, I am not one of those people.

As of last year with the launch of the iPhone X, Apple has priced me out of the market.

T-Mobile a day or so ago launched 36 month financing for high-end devices. But this is not something I am going to take advantage of. Something about financing a phone for 3 years just doesn't sit well with me.

It will be interesting to see just how far those who upgrade every year are willing to go. Several of the people I've seen here on MR that were yearly upgraders have lately adopted bi-yearly upgrade attitudes.

I suspect that at some point the "many the pricing is not an issue" people you mention will be the only ones buying the most expensive devices. And Apple knows it. One of the reasons they dropped prices on earlier models to allow for different price point entries.

That alone is interesting though. Here on the MR forums there was always an influx of people buying the iPhone because it was a status symbol. Over time (iPhone 4s to iPhone 7/8) it seemed to turn that most people here on MR were buying it as a tool.

I see another wave coming over time to MR of those with the high end expensive models having done so as a status symbol. For the ones that money won't be an issue - they don't frequent tech forums because they are too busy in their lives making money.

To be honest I think those making the most money more often than not don't care about the latest and greatest phones. I've seen millionaires sporting 6 and 6s iphones.

I think alot on the annual upgrades like myself the price per month is basically not much difference from the older model so for many they just see why not upgrade with the latest model and pay a similar amount than pay similar price for an older phone.

I get those who don't want to pay the money as lets face it the older models still work very well and they still get the latest software updates.

Back in the days when I bought the top model of the iPhone 6S for around $800, I thought that was expensive.

Now forward to 2019, iPhone’s cost the same as very well specced laptops and computers. Is this a joke?

What’s next in 2020, iPhone’s costing over $2000???

I predict iPhone 11 will cost the same as XS and XS Max. Sales are down and if Apple increase their prices, can you imagine?

Well your extremely lucky you can now get a iPhone 6s for $200.

Isn’t that’s what you really want a cheaper iPhone 6s.

Nope Samsung and Huawei beat apple to the $2000 phone.
Those come with plastic displays.

Don’t buy it then....

There are plenty of iPhones you can get at a more reasonable price

All the complaints about $1000 iPhones started shortly before the launch of the iPhone X in 2017.

It's 2019 now.

We're a little late to this complaint aren't we?

They’re not holding a gun to your head and telling you to buy their products. If you don’t like the pricing just walk away. They are a business and don’t owe you anything.

Too many people have this weird attitude - they think they are entitled to everything and when something doesn’t go their way they throw their toys out of the pram. Stop whining!

You’re way too late to the "high price" party. This subject has been beaten to death so the pricing is not any surprise.
If you want a premium phone (Apple or Android), you’re going to pay for it.
The constant whining has become boorish. Move on.
To cap this off, the 6S/6S Plus came out a little more than 3 1/2 years ago. So with the March of time and technology, $200 to go from the 6S to an X-R, Xs, or Xs Max does not seem out of line.

Checked back through his start threads. Virtually all are nothing but complaints. Not sure why he bothers to buy Apple products or is a member of this forum.
