Back in the days when I bought the top model of the iPhone 6S for around $800, I thought that was expensive.

Now forward to 2019, iPhone’s cost the same as very well specced laptops and computers. Is this a joke?

What’s next in 2020, iPhone’s costing over $2000???

Took you until now to notice considering these where high prices since September of 2017?!?!?!?!?!?

PS. If you do not like the prices then do not buy the phones.

At least with Samsung and Huawei you get good battery life, good camera, more features, better design, and more hardware overall. The least expensive Xs is 64GB. In 2019??? Whaaaat?

Agree, not only more expensive when technology should go down in price.

Your value proposition does not add up, if that were the case Samsung and Huawei would be selling much more premium smartphones than apple does.

Galaxy S10 - $899

Galaxy S10+ - $999

Note 9 - $999

Pixel 3XL - $929

Nobody bats an eye, thousand dollar iPhone and everyone loses their mind
Keep in mind that the iPhone Xs Max is $100 more expensive with half as much storage. Competitive pricing to the smartphones in your post would be this: XR (64 GB, $649), Xs (128 GB, $899), Xs Max (128 GB, $999). Instead, people are complaining about this: XR (64 GB, $749), Xs (64 GB, $999), Xs Max (64 GB, $1,099).

It would be nice to see Apple bother with competitive pricing compared to Android smartphones or even previous iPhones. But even if we assume iOS is worth $100 more than Android, not going to 128 GB base storage is inexcusable.

You don’t seem to grasp competitive pricing.

Apple uses the nvme standard for storage, it is much more expensive then what everyone else uses, ufs2.1. Ufs is inferior and cheaper than nvme.

It would be nice if android manufactures would stop over charging for cheap components such as ufs 2.1 and fool uneducated consumers into thinking apple, offering nvme based storage, a a superior solution as a “rip off” in comparison.

Was looking at the iPhone XS Max to upgrade from my iPhone X as I find the screen of the iPhone X too small. But when I saw the prices today in the Apple store, I lost all interest.

I remember those days when the TOTL fully spec’ed iPhone was less than $1000. In a few years, Apple will ask over $2000 for it?

Samsung asks $1,980 for a phone that breaks in two days.

All iPhones have become cheaper. _Every single iPhone_. They started selling more expensive models. Look at the price of the phone that you want, not at the price of the phone that you can't afford.

5 years ago, a loaf of bread was £1, a litre of petrol was £1.27, an iPhone was £509. Today, they're £1, £1.32, £1,000. Spot the odd one out.
The phone that was £509 five years ago doesn't come close to the cheapest iPhone today, which is £449. Spot the odd one out.

Are you being obtuse? That iPhone 6s is inferior to the iPhone 7 in every respect, and that iPhone 7 is $449. About half the price for a better phone. You can buy an iPhone for far more than $2,000 now, if you want one covered in Svarovski crystals, or gold plated.

Agree, not only more expensive when technology should go down in price.

Technology only decreases in price when it’s matured and there are enough suppliers to meet the demand for _that_ specific technology. That’s how technology depreciates, is when it’s lucrative and when multiple competitors are also releasing their versions of that specific technology, then they all try to compete in differing price points. [LG with their OLED TV panels is a prime exemplar of this.]

I here all this talk about Apple gouging customers with massive markup, like 1000%

Where are the numbers to support that? Seriously asking-----

Every time, over the years, I have looked at an iPhone's selling price vs cost to manufacture it is usually 3 times cost.

Not unreasonable for many products.

Yes, storage is a higher mark-up. But, many companies try to make more on add-ons to make up for lower margins on their main product.

https://nypost.com/2018/09/26/making-the-1249-iphone-xs-only-costs-apple-443/

https://www.vox.com/2015/9/29/11619...osts-an-estimated-236-to-make-749-to-purchase

We would all like to see lower prices on the products we buy. But, like others here have said, if you think the price is too high for what you are getting---don't buy it.

A loaf of bread was once 15 cents and a gallon of gas less than 50 cents. Do you expect prices to go down over time?

Well it depends on what you're buying. From what I've heard, getting help with building a website could potentially cost way way WAY more than it does now depending on the help you chose/choose.

Its a fact that the iPhone price increase are insanely high. It can't be denied. In 2015 when I bought my iPhone 6s plus 128GB, it cost me CA$1240. In 2018, the iPhone XS Max 256GB - the equivalence of the plus sized iPhone and the minimal storage that fit the 128GB I need cost me CA$1740. a $500 increase if I want the same level of phone and screen size. (yes, the 6.5 max is in reality around the same as the plus phone for watching videos in native 16:9 ratio).

The top XS max cost CA$2000. The new iPad pro is also ridiculously overpriced. I bought the original 12,9 128GB at CA$1000 and now the 12,9 with 256GB is CA$1450. At this price I'll never upgrade for a 12,9 iPad again. Its just asking too much. And no, I dont think iPhones sell as well as before and thats why they increase the price, to compensate the more slow sales.

If you believe the the iPhone 6s Plus to be equivalent to the iPhone XS Max, you can pick up an iPhone 6splus today for $200.

iPhones are selling great in the segment they sell in.

It’s everyone else that’s having a hard time selling premium products.
