I know I'm clutching at straws, but arguing against the fact we have no leaks for the 6C parts, it could just be launching later than the 6S. We also have no leaked parts for the Apple TV, or iPad Pro. (remains to be seen if we'll see them next month) We only had one leaked screen for the Retina Macbook. Perhaps simply if people aren't looking for it, they're not going to find it.

We also had no leaks of the new iPod Touch.

I'd buy a couple of them in a heartbeat, although I'm pretty sure that Apple won't do it.
They'd rather sell you oversized phones with updated internals for a few hundreds more, just like what they do by not offering a 32GB model as a middle ground between the 16GB and 64GB models.

We can be sure Apple manage to cripple the phone in a way that makes you want the next bigger version

So lets see:

iPhone 6S
iPhone 6S+
iPhone 6C
New iPad
New Apple TV
Lower priced iPhone 6
Lower priced iPhone 6+

I don't see that happening during an early September unveiling. Lower priced iPhone 6s, new couple = iPhone 6S & iPhone 6S+, and maybe...MAYBE announcement of New AppleTV to be released several weeks later.

I say the 6C will basically be the new iPod Touch's internals in 5C style shells with TouchID, which means A8 instead of A9.

That said those who are waiting for a new 4-inch iPhone should jump on them immediately.

October has become the new iPad/accessories month - most of that stuff will probably be held off until then

If it is going to happen i think you are right except I think we might also see TouchID in it as well.

Please please please, let it be non-plastic and better than 5S

What's wrong with plastic, apart from the environmental point of view? It overheats way less than the metal ones, does not require any antenna separator bands & could even have a better WiFi & cellular reception.

Apple is getting top heavy with products again.

Far too many different models and vintages of products are being supported. So, yeah, lets bring out THREE different versions of the next iPhone...

What could go wrong... After all, I'm sure there is a huge piece of desert land just aching to be filled with more inventory that Apple can't sell...

Resell value is lower and looks cheap(er). It does not look like a premium Apple phone. I can say this because I have a 5c. While it's nice and smooth and doesn't chip up, I prefer the looks of the 5s and I regret not waiting two months for a discount of $100 after September.

... the 4-inch budget smartphone could still be released alongside the "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus" later this year. ...

I wonder if Apple would ever release an iPod touch that could make wi-fi calls.
All it would need is an earpiece and iOS 9. It already has wi-fi and a mic.

An iPod touch that makes wi-fi calls fits the rumors perfectly: 4" screen, cheaper than an iPhone, different release schedule than iPhone / iPad, etc. iOS 9 will have wi-fi calling (a fantastic feature for me, here on the fringes of ***** AT&T coverage) so all it would need is the Phone app and an earpiece.

Please put the 6 or 6s internals into the body of a 5s and give us 12 hours or more of web browsing battery.

That is the bare minimum that would tempt me to upgrade from my 5.

The problem with that though is that normal 6 and 6 Plus will easily eat into the sales of the 6S. Meaning that more people will buy the 6/6+ instead of the 6S/6S+ because all they want is the big screen and don't care for hardware improvements and force touch. So the 6+ will probably be discontinued no matter what, while the 6 4.7' will either stay or go depending on the 6C's release.

If Apple wanted to be decent, they would offer a 16GB iPhone 5s at $349, a 16GB iPhone 6 at $449 and the new 32GB iPhone 6s at $549, new 64GB 6s at $649 and new 128GB 6s at $749. With the end of subsidized plans (Sprint appears to be joining the "full price or monthly" club) it's time for Apple to reduce their over-inflated prices.

No reason for them to change colors but the screw placement would and we haven't seen anything in that regard so would it be too far out to say that Apple has abandoned the "C" line?
Though evleaks is not someone to be doubted on. https://twitter.com/evleaks/media
I say this because Apple is known for changing colors so that people can tell you have a newer model, think iPods and the gold and space gray iPhone 5s. Also, I recall a footnote on the iPhone 5c's website saying that colors might change.

Expect the 6/6+ to be discontinued due to how similar they are to the 6S/6S+.

If Apple does do a '6C' then I expect the lineup to be:
iPhone 5S - $449
iPhone 6C - $549
iPhone 6S - $649
iPhone 6S Plus - $749
