Cool! This one definately came out of left field. Good work Apple. I'll still stick to the dock though, as I'm not on a wireless network. :)

Well, I guess the iPod could be a remote, especially if they update it to wirelessly share libraries with computers on the local network like other iTunes software does. That would be slick and might actually make me buy an iPod.

This all sounds very exciting. Steve is really going to wow us this month. Now we are going to know that this is the 20th anniversary. :)

Appleinsider said that Jobs confirmed the iTunes Music Store European launch for the 15th. Does anybody have any further information on this? Specifically, does this preclude iTMS being released in Canada too?

Laptops?

Does anyone expect a release of new Powerbook or other Laptops from Apple? Going to be buying a new Powerbook soon....

Ok, boys and girls, read my post. I just guess that the new Power Macs won't reach 3 GHz. Why? Well, many evidences have said so until now. I do hope though that it will be 3 GHz, so don't read too much into my statement.

Yikes, talk about overload! ;) This is what I like to see though - a flurry of updates - looks like June is going to be an excellent month for Apple! Airport Express, AirTunes, iTunes 4.6 already - possible PowerMac updates tomorrow, iTMS Europe next week, then who knows what @ WWDC! G5 iMacs, new displays, iPod announcements, Tiger preview...

I personally kind of hope that PowerMacs AREN'T updated tomorrow - this would almost indicate a non-3GHz G5, and although updates are LONG overdue, and anything is better than nothing, it still would be so nice to see Jobs unveil the 3 GHz @ WWDC. Ah well, can't get too greedy I guess! ;)

Pessimistically, I reckon:

Dual 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 models.

If we're lucky:

Dual 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6 models
OR
Dual 2.1, 2.4 and 2.7 models

These last two however put the lowest PowerMac speed above the current highest. I don't believe that Apple would do this. Maybe Dual 1.8, 2.2 and 2.6 Models (i.e., greater spread of speeds). Then 2GHz processors can be used in an upcoming quad PowerMac :p ... or more realistically in iMac G5s which will ship at 1.6, 2.0 and 2.4 GHz.

OK then... Apple will update its lineup to 20GB, 30GB, and 40GB.
And to be more competetive, all iPods will be $100 cheaper, including the iPod Mini.

iPod Mini (4GB): $149
iPod (20GB): $199
iPod (30GB): $299
iPod (40GB): $399
Mac OS 10.4: Priceless. Well actually probably $129

Those prices sound awesome! If only Apple would actually do that... :(

With so much else coming out, and so many other lines due for upgrades, I personally think you're fine with buying a PowerBook now - they were only released a few weeks ago anyway! I doubt we'll see any updates soon, and the G5 PowerBooks won't be out until sometime in 2005...

i don't think apple will go that low on the prices. people will pay the current prices as they have been for all this time. i would expect upgrades to the product however. built in recording FM tuner and such

The crap thing about Airport Express, if it playing from your iTunes Playlist on your mac in the Living Room to the Speakers on the HiFi in the Dining Room, you still have to get up to change tracks or playlists.

So maybe some sort of remote device is coming?

Isn't that the fun of Random play though? I like not knowing what song is coming next provided I know it's a song i'm going to like. That's the whole reason for labelling you tracks by star rating. I don't want to micromanage my songs. However I'm sure eventually remote control is something that will be feasible.

Not if you have a bluetooth phone with clicker. Get with the times, Apple does it all very well.

WooHoo!

Well, now we know the real reason for those updated AE drivers the other day, perhaps.

An AE-compatible iPod remote type thing would rule. Kill the battery power, but who cares? It'd beat M$'s new device before it's even released... :)
