No serious adult would buy such a smartphone. Obviously its target audience are teens. And if you are teen, you are way cooler if you have a 1000$ iPhone instead of a this 400$ another android phone with leds on the back.

Not to mention that the leds on the back have very weird shapes and do not make any sense. Definitely, nothing to see here.
What they should have done is have the entire back be covered in a grid of LEDs that are controllable. You could have it show drawings or animations that way. Endless possibilities for third parties and end users.

Hah; I originally bought an Android phone b/c there is chess software that interfaces with my e-boards; said software is not available on IOS. After having this Samsung monstrosity for 1 yr, can’t stand it and am getting an iPhone. Still needed the chess software so I picked up a Chromebook.

Waiting until iPhone 14’s are released.

Tom
Which model e-board(s) do you have for chess?

Since you have such a long history as an Apple user, you should understand that Apple has never had the largest battery, largest pixel density, biggest camera sensor, etc. Why did you stick with Apple so long? Why question Apple specs now? Because of this new competitor?

Where did I question what Apple does? I simply followed up to someone saying that this ANDROID phone has no stand out features. Nothing to do with the iPhone besides mentioning that it’s 1/4 of the price

I see you're still living in the past. 6.5 inch is medium size nowadays
Yah, I dont care for a phone that big. Most of you dont need it. You're not doing anything special that requires such a big phone. Sending text and photos to granny over whatsapp doesnt require a brick sized phone. Furthermore, if I needed a bigger screen, i'd hop on my desktop or laptop. Phones are portable and need to be treated as such; PORTABLE, meaning small. When I'm out of the house, I dont want a gigantic effing slab of tech in my pocket bulging out like some sort of compensation of genitalia. It's ridiculous.

And while I get that egotistical tech nerd wannabes will boast about how big their phone is, there is NO REASON why manufacturers still can't offer a smaller OPTION for those of us who know what 'portable' actually means. This is just like whenever someone says they want a headphone jack and some corporate cheerleader flaps their gums about 'why? thats old tech, do u still use floppies??' as if the headphone jack SOMEHOW impedes their phones capabilities. Dont like the headphone jack? Fine, don't use it; every phone comes with bluetooth. Same with small phones; dont like them? Fine, go out and buy one of the 500 phablets out there.... or essentially, any phone since NONE of them are small enough to be considered 'compact'.

I can't begin to express how stupid so many people have become.

That's right, hon, let it all out. Feel better now?

What year am I in? As usual, everyone is prattling off about specs. Why do we still do this? This phone or any other for that matter has to compete on experience. Doesn't matter if it has 12,000 hour battery if the UI and app experience isn't on par with Apple's. Phone's display is meaningless if it doesn't have a better Notes app or other core productivity software.

I like the look of it. And more competition, even indirect, is usually a good thing, at least in the consumer space. Pairing a sub-$500 phone to a Tesla, however, seems a bit aspirational and/or marketing bling-ish, but I wish them well from my iPhone and my 30 year marriage to Apple.

Nothing special?

120Hz, HDR10+, and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits
4,500mAh battery
USB-C
50 Megapixel and 16 Megapixel Selfie Camera

All for 399 bucks. Yeah ... nothing special at all LOL my 1,299 EUR iPhone does not do any of it.

Real World: This looks great with some nice things no one has previously thought of
Macrumors: THIS SUCKS
Loser, you don’t have an iphone at all!

You are on Macrumors. That means you're comparing it to iPhone by default. What else are you talking about? If it has so many great features for the price, why not leave iPhone and buy this one? Simple question that you keep avoiding.

This might as well be a random chinese brand phone. You can pick up stuff from the likes of Xiaomi that are basically the same... and better in certain areas. It's just a random example, but the M11 5G lite for less at $349:

* Snapdragon 780G
* 6.55 " AMOLED 10-bit color support, HDR10+ certification, and a 90Hz refresh rate FHD+
* 6/8GB RAM (two models...)
* 64MP + 8MP + 5MP camera
* Battery: 4250 mAh
* Connector type: usb type c

Dear Apple,

Please take notes

Sincerely.
Take note of what? A no-name new brand showing overpriced mid-range commodity phone with adolescent lighting gimmicks? People are already willing to spend $1000 for iPhones.

And do note that Carl Pei himself uses an iPhone, per his own admission.

Exactly. This Nothing phone is just hype, no substance. It's so hilarious seeing all the western youtubers go gaga just because of the lighting LED gimmicks. It shows the maturity level of most of those youtubers.

The competition is not Apple. This Nothing phone will be comepting in the crowded commodity mid-range Android market. Even Samsung sells a similar phone for less.

Isn't that what the OnePlus concept was, how is this different?
This is worse. OnePlus One actually was worth the hype as it brought flagship SoC (at that time) for a really low price. This Nothing phone is literally just an overpriced mid-range Android phone with LED gimmicks. It's like those gaming headsets that are overpriced because they have color LEDs around it.
