There were just as high resolution or higher when retina was introduced 🙄
Could you point me to some examples please? Screens of that resoluation or higher in phones before retina was introduced? I’ve just done some research and have come up empty. It does seem that Apple was the first to mainstream high res displays in mobile devices out of isolated monitors that cost the earth at the time.

these really don't do it for me. but it is showing one thing that Apple might need to think about in the n ext few years

In Ear pods are dramatically coming down in price. And you can get some extremely good quality ones now for fraction of the cost of the AirPods.

AirPods are fantastic (if they fit). But when you can get comparable in hear buds now for $150-200, $250+ starts to feel... excessive
Apple's strategy seems to be to increasingly leverage on their hardware / software integration to create unique experiences that the competition can't replicate. Such as spatial audio (which I believe only works with AirPods Pro and Max). And the AirPods case continues to be of a compact enough size that fits comfortably into the coin pouch of my jeans, something I don't see a lot of the competition managing.

I am watching video reviews of the product on YouTube and Dave2D notes that the connection seems quite inconsistent. So we may be looking at reliability issues that aren't readily apparent until the product becomes more widely adopted.

There's also the question of just how profitable these earbuds are at $100.

Strikes me of the "iPhones are destined to lose to cheaper android smartphones" argument all over again.

Spatial audio is not Apple exclusive.

Spatial audio = Dolby Atmos.

Re: $100 I´m guessing Pei is going Oneplus route. I.e cheap/affordable out the gate and price increase with every new launch.

HTC had screens that size

Well that early drop yesterday was a complete joke. Kept refreshing a few minutes before and was easily able to add to cart. But Apple Pay kept failing and normal checkout said “store not accepting payments”. After 10 frustrating minutes of this, it then gave a 404 page error and finally said “sold out”.

:rolleyes::mad:

I was able to add one to cart and when I went forward to payment I got the message "Sold out"...That was 1 minute after orders opened. Pei is repeating the same playbook they had with the first few Oneplus devices it seems. Who can blame him. It worked! 😆
