I don’t have the bad time with auto switching as some others but it does need a more elegant method. A Siri prompt to confirm switch?
I’d REALLY like auto switching to Apple TV.
** I’m hoping both of these are coming in updates.
What I don’t like, I keep getting haptics alert that I need to turn it down.😀

I Like that they are in my FindMe network.
I like the stems for touch control (get them configured for my liking) and a stem makes the directional mic a better chance audioConf quality.
I like Siri announcing my text messages (I do use Siri occasionally if phone isn’t near)

What I haven’t tried but will be (and will report on it) is the Audio Share mode for high quality audio signal TV watching especially on ATV 4K. The girlfriend just got some APPs. Interested to see how functional this is and how much individual volume control there is or isn’t.

I've just bought the AirPods Pro - beyond the auto switching (which is very flaky), the pop-up on connection (great), and the spatial audio stuff (tried it, not for me), what's the other integration we're missing?

Don't get me wrong I love my Pros but I think you're hyperbolising a little bit here. They of course integrate better in the Apple ecosystem but that feature set isn't worth £150 if the sound on these Ear (1)s is on par or better.

Sorry, was just replying about the auto routing then rambled on — then saw your post. My post answered some of it (or maybe all) but I’ll list it here. None of them may be useful to you or may find some similar feature on other options. Anyway here it is:

They are in your FindMe network.
Siri announces text messages and prompts you if you want to respond.
Audio Share (haven’t used it but will be soon. Hope it’s good)
Hearing health monitoring (I’ve “reached my limit, please turn down the volume”)

My belief is if you’re moderately or above into the eco, get them. Updates will hopefully be in sync with other device updates. That’s key for me. But If you have a iPhone and that’s your eco extent? You Definitely can look at other options.

It can never beat any of Apple’s headphones because they will never have the same integration as Apple’s headphones
Well it depends on which parts of Apple integration someone uses - so for some, like yourself it seems, non-Apple headphones simply can't beat Apple headphones as you must use enough of the integration features, enough of the time, that you can't go without them.

But for others that might not be the case - not all users uses are the same, and I'd argue that the absolute majority of AirPods users will not use most of the integration features.

I love my AirPods Pro but if I think about how much of the integration I use, is it really that much of a big deal?

- Easy pairing, it's really nice, but once you do it once, it's done - so no big deal
- Device switching - I can see this being a deal for some but for me I find it slightly frustrating as it switches to devices when I don't want it to, so I've turned it off - so not a big deal for me, but could be if Apple make it better in future.
- 'Hey Siri' - this is one that I do use... with my original AirPods I always wished they had 'Hey Siri' rather than having to touch the AirPod and the Pro added this. I presume with Nothing you'll be able to invoke Siri by touching the ear bud, but 'Hey Siri' won't be present - potential issue for me.
- Spatial Audio - don't use it at all.

So for me, if I take all that into account and then look at the fact that Nothing Ear 1 is way less than half the price and in my opinion has a really cool design... can I accept the trade offs to massively save on cost? Possibly. Depends how good they are in practice. Not in the market for new headphones right now, but will keep an eye on the reviews of these for future.

Yeah good shout about the FindMe network - that's something that I do use. And once iOS15 kicks in with crowdsourced network it'll be infinitely helpful for finding lost devices (my friend recently lost his AirPods 2nd Gen and had to buy new ones).

Both my wife and I have the Pros and I think once we start travelling again by plane etc. that Audio Share function will come in handy for use with the iPad.

I hear you though - my wife and I have a MacBook and an iPad, both use iPhones, I have an Apple Watch, and both have the AirPods Pro. So we're pretty embedded in the ecosystem. I think in the grand scheme of things I could live without all of the integration features for £150 less. (Though I will admit we both paid around £190/200 for our Pros - so in actuality it's £100 less).

I paid 5.00 for my Airpod Pros (person thought they were broken, just needed to be cleaned) so I'm always going to be ahead in pricing on headphones. I might actually try these at full price just to see.

So 5 entire pages of discussion/comments and nobody’s asked the most crucial question of why exactly is there a pair of ladybirds having at it next to these earphones? Am I missing a reference or is the insect sex just random? Are they photoshopped? If not, is there a niche and lucrative market for this sort of thing? Frankly, this lack of clarity has ruined my browsing experience.

Then why are you wanting to buy these Nothing earbuds. They look similar to AirPods Pro. smh

You don’t know integration if all you think AirPods are are just simply connecting it to devices.
i would buy them for the sole purpose of when i'm have to be on the subway — as that's the only time i would actually go for in-ear/anc.

and i do know integration, but if you read some of last nights post — we were discussing how poor that integration actually works. not saying that's how it is for everyone, but pcd213 and i sure seemed to agree. something tells me you will strongly disagree, but that's that lol/lolz

I agree! Even though I usually have issues with in-ear I will give these a try just because of price and features.
Pre-ordered through a local reseller. If anything major surfaces from reviews in the coming weeks before launch I can always cancel 🤷‍♂️

i wish you had answered anything, but all you can do is give advice no one asked for. btw the original airpods are great — it's the pros that are ugly af. and if you consider connecting devices via bt "integration", well then that's that)
Quite honestly this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone say the AirPods Pro are uglier than the original AirPods. Lmao, in what world? I get some people not liking having to stick them in your ears when AirPods can kind of just rest but the AirPods Pro are immensely better looking.

you don't think this may be a matter of taste/preference? the pros are short and stumpy — you like short and stumpy? lmao lolz be my guest rofl. and btw — a lot of people prefer the look and feel of the original ones.

No . I totally agree. The integration is poor. I said so near the beginning of this post thread

Yeah in comparison to the AirPods they might look short and stumpy but that’s because the AirPods are long. AirPods look like penne pasta hanging from your ears.

In the name of FASHION, halt!

right, but since the pros came long after the original shape, one can't help but compare them in that order — not the opposite. again — it's personal preference. i love the original airpods shape, and if gen 3 will in fact look like the pros i'll probably buy 1—2 gen 2s. unless i can get past the fact that you need to squeeze the stems as opposed to simply tapping.

these really don't do it for me. but it is showing one thing that Apple might need to think about in the n ext few years

In Ear pods are dramatically coming down in price. And you can get some extremely good quality ones now for fraction of the cost of the AirPods.

AirPods are fantastic (if they fit). But when you can get comparable in hear buds now for $150-200, $250+ starts to feel... excessive

Agreed - I wouldn't have paid £250 for my Pros. I ended up getting em for £190 in a sale and even that felt at the high end of what I was willing to pay

You do realize retina was just a marketing term?
Yes, it is a marketing term for a very real and useful feature of having high resolution displays. What Apple did was to take that idea and implement it on a massive scale to improve the screens for millions of customers. No, “just” about it.

There were just as high resolution or higher when retina was introduced 🙄
