I really think if you don't order within 10 seconds of the store going live you'll already be waiting weeks, and if you wait another 30 or 40 seconds, you'll be waiting months. This is insane, but i am happy for Apple that they have created such an incredible product that so many people must own it.

Ya I still think that if one orders within the first 2 minutes they will see their phone within the month of November if supply rumors are true. Plus I bet apple is making phones till November 1st for launch day.

Supply will definitely deplete quickly- that’s a given. But I do not think that it will be backed up within 10 seconds.

Within 10 minutes? Sure. But for most people, preordering with the whole carrier verification process takes like 30 seconds or so.

It is not just a phone. It is pocket-able super computer.

And I think it is OK to be excited and to want to own the latest and greatest iPhone on launch day. It is more special when you are part of the conversation on launch day - as we all unbox and start experiencing the wonders of iPhone X together on the same day.

I do agree with the fact that it is exciting to buy a new top notch phone.

Now .... a super computer.... really?

It’s a phone, exactly the same as the iPhone 8, different form factor but not more capable than it.

Face ID and animoji might be cool to some people but they are not anything to lose sleep over.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great and I don’t even mind the notch, I just don’t understand the drama behind ordering a phone.

And to be honest, I might get one but I will not consider it a super computer and I will wish it also had Touch ID .

BTW... I hope you manage to get one on launch day.

I am nervous. I sit here at work, staring at my monitor. But my mind is not on work. The cursor blinks, back and forth, back and forth.
I take a sip of tea. Earl Grey, hot. One cube of sugar. Usually I can taste it, and it is something I enjoy.
But not today. Today, nothing matters. All the simple pleasantries are meaningless. Nothing matters but knowing what awaits me tonight. Pre-ordering the new iPhone.

My hands get sweaty as I type that, and I feel a shiver run down my spine. New iPhone. iPhone X. It is waiting for me. Tonight, the new lovely piece of Apple hardware shall be mine, secured for the journey to my front door. But for now, I must sit here and try to work. I continue the staring contest with my cursor. It blinks at me again. And again. And again.

I take another sip of the Earl Grey tea. Hot. One cube of sugar.

Gather ye rose buds while ye may
Old time is still a-flying
For this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.

You get nervous when the cops pull you over and you have a bag of weed in your pocket... You get nervous when your girlfriend tells you she's late.... You get nervous when your wife asks who Jenny is while looking at your phone... A device launch is nothing to get nervous about.. Breathe and relax, things could be worse..

Man this post hit close to home haha. This guy knows!

More people get nervous with public speaking than waiting for a phone. Practice handling jitters. Develop a "clutch gene" that Skip Bayless likes to talk about.

It's a good nervous for me like gambling big on a horse race, skydiving that first time, riding a gigantic rollercoaster, waiting for Game 7 of the NBA Finals with your favorite team, waiting for a Star Wars film, and the happy endings in American Pie during prom night.

This thread is really starting to remind me of the Helsinki episode of 1919, and I think we all remember how THAT turned out!

😀

Post if you know it... LOL!!

Been there done that.

Back in the teenage years had just bought some weed and was pulled over by the cops on the way home. The bag was in my underwear... and had to step out of the car while being checked for DUI, etc etc...

While I'm doing the sobriety test the bag of weed falls down my pants... and is stopped by the boots I was wearing.

I passed all the tests and the cop let me go... and as soon as I got into the car the bag of weed falls out onto the floorboard.

True story.

Lol no

This is my sport! I'm excited! It's on! 😀

And yeah, I'm a little nervous because if I miss the first window, I'll probably just wait until next year's "X+" and hang onto my 7+ just to be more sensible. No biggie, mostly this is for fun, and the excitement of getting in on the big preorder (and maybe getting to make use of the IUP that I signed up for last year).

Those with a good memory do you remember the Apple Store app going live a few minutes before 12:01 AM? Or has it always been sharp 12:01?

My memory from years past is I could finally get through and place my order 10-15 minutes after midnight. I'm not sure if that's because I was on the apple.com site?

Actually, I feel kind of crummy. The stress is taking it's toll. I'm imagining things also; all sorts of weird ailments. If I make it thought this, i'll feel doubly blessed.

Sounds like everyday for 80% of working people. That's why we need these little bursts of vivid color, drama, excitement, anticipation and intrigue to get us through......life.

Watch scary movies. Play MJ's "Thriller". Go to Knott's Scary Farm in those haunted mazes. It's almost Halloween. Ideal time feeling nervous.

I’ll try to get one within seconds of availability like everyone here, but coming from a Plus phone I’ve misgivings about the downsize in screen so it isn’t a no brainer upgrade as I’d like.

One certainty is that if it gets to February or something silly and I still haven’t took delivery, I’ll cancel and wait for the X Plus.

There is no guarantee there will be an X plus. Besides it would cost a lot more and how much longer and wider can they make it?

I’ve posted before but I was really hoping they would have just kept the form factor size of the 6 and 6 plus( 7,8) but removed the home button and bezels.

But they had to go weird and create another size.

Screen sizes:
iPhone X = 5.80
iPhone (any model) Plus = 5.50
Difference .3 inches

Yeah, wait for the X Plus if there is one. 😉

You get nervous when your wife asks who Jenny is while looking at your phone...

It’s amazing how little things can cause big ripples that affect the world.

Newton sees an Apple fall; we get theory of gravity.

August Kekulé dreams of a snake eating its tail; we get the knowledge of the ring structure of benzene.

Jonny Ive’s significant other is always looking through his phone; we get FaceID.
