If I had wrists like Paul Bunyan I might consider it. :) given the fact that the precious gears apparently haven't sold well at all, I assume support will remain weak and even less apps than Apple Watch. They are so big, you can forget then fitting under dress shirts and even jackets!

And the Samsung Tizen OS is terrible..

It looks ok to be honest, but I would never buy anything from Samsung after past customer service issues. Plus this is just a prettier Pebble at the end of the day, just something to receive notifications.

I thought I saw stories in the front page that pop-up Apple Watch stores were shutting down due to soft sales. And anecdotally I don't see a lot of Apple Watches and no one else in my circle has one.

I've seen a lot more Apple watches than any other Samsung or Android wear watches....

Maybe but if so then why did Samsung decide to not do it? Waterproofing is a pretty big deal for anything intended as as activity and / or fitness device...

It's the # 1 reason I passed on the S0 Watch..

Well the series 2 isn't waterproof either..... Water resistant.

Well that makes sense... didn't the estimates say Apple sold 12 million of them last year? No one else even came close.

Even though Apple Watch sales have "fallen" last quarter... Apple has historically sold more than any Android Wear or Samsung watch could ever dream of.

Basically... you should see more Apple Watches now. :)

And I wouldn't be surprised if Apple Watch sales increased this Holiday quarter with the new models and a cheaper starting price. So there should be even more of them out there.

So the S3 on iOS is limited to being a notification device only. Bummer :/
I bought the watch like 3 weeks ago and ran it with the beta app I have been wearing it everyday since. The offical app really didn't change much. I can tell you that I am a huge Apple fan. I own all Apple products including an Apple watch. The S3 is the first product I have ever bought from Samsung. I just tried wearing the Apple watch again just the other day and found myself switching back to the S3 within hours.

Do you use it for working out? or Running? I may purchase one, just wondering about the fitness aspect

Consider it's a watch, I could have more than one .
I might get next gen Gear S4 but not Gear S3, from my experience Samsung software need time to be improve around 3-4 years.
Even I buy Gear S it could not replace my Apple Watch for sure.

never understood the watch has to be round argument. Apple watch looks better than any other product out there IMO.
Being round gives Samsung to have a far more functional wheel/bezel situation than the Apple Watch has.

I am not switching, but if I lose my Apple Watch, I'd give it a strong look. I pretty much only use my Watch for notifications anyway.

I prefer rounded watch (been using Moto 360 for years), and I caved and bought S2 AW instead to use with my iPhone.
The Moto 360 does work with iPhone, but it is very limited. Even when I use it merely for notification, it is limited in terms of what you can do with notifications, and there are many quirks (late notifications, etc). It is just not as seamless. I doubt the Samsung would fare any better.

If you only buy a smartwatch for the looks, then I would advise just buying a regular watch. A smartwatch with the "smart" functions hobbled is not a good experience.

I bought an S3, and I like it a lot. But for me a big issue, is the fact that you can't buy apps for it on an iPhone. You could use an Android phone, but when you want to connect the watch back to the iPhone, it only works with a hard reset of the device... and this reset removes all installed apps, so I learned. Unless there are other ways?

In real life it looks quite good to me! The compass look has more to do with the watchface used for advertising, according to me... There are very nice alternative watchfaces available.

The Samsung Frontier is resistant to 5ft for 30 minutes. Not for swimming activities. IMHO not more wet than say washing your hands, washing the car or doing dishes. The AW2 is resistant to 50 meters period. The reason Apple says resistant is for morons who don't read the limitations. So you can swim with it for however long and not worry.

Still is water resistant.... You can swim with it but if it's damaged by water it isn't covered by warranty.....

Like the poster earlier in the thread, I would be worried about the screen on the Samsung...is it as durable as the ion-x on the AW2 aluminium?

Plus, I like how the AW integrates so well with the iPhone app - I wouldn't want to lose any of that.

I bought one last night. I love the look of it. The dial is pretty slick watch faces are very nice.

I have used a Fenix HR3 so I am used to certain things not working. So missing out on Apple Pay is not that big of a deal for me neither is replying to texts etc.

The notifications work flawlessly and I love the way the emails are presented on the watch face.

The real bummer I see is that there is no way to intergrate into Apple Health and the Shealth is obviously not an option. This is the only reason I really wear any of these devices is for the fitness aspect.

SO I will keep wearing it for a few days, do some workouts and see how it does. So far love the look of the device.

For me the Apple watch is much slicker, comfy, feels more like it isnt there and that is too be expected I guess from a size standpoint. The gear is not that comfy for workouts

I have the Gear S2 Classic and AW S2.

Gear S2 Classic Pros ....

Design ... feels like you're wearing an actually watch.
Better and Brighter display.
Better Default and endless 3rd Party Watch faces.
Automatic Sleep record
Widgets
More Rugged
Compatible with tons of Android Phones and now iPhone.

Apple Watch Pros ....
Lighter weight
App integration is top notch and makes this the most functional smart watch, PERIOD!!!!
Force Touch. I actually use force touch on the AW more than on the iPhone.
Much stronger vibration.
Calls and iMessage without the iPhone when connected to wifi.
Siri
Better Water Resistant

I like both watches equally for differ reasons.

The option to wear my Gear S2 Classic with the iPhone is nice for occasion, but it's still not seamless enough yet, you still have to keep the Gear App open in the background. I wouldn't advise anyone to get anything but an Apple Watch for the iPhone. For Android, Gear watches are the best, as I dislike Android Wear.

I do use the Force Touch in the haptic feedback is fairly strong for being such a small device. Even the haptic feedback is strong in the stainless model, which I thought would absorb more of the vibration.

I find the haptic feedback weak. Hardly useful. Even on Prominent haptic it only just good enough. I find my Pebble Steel has much better tactile feedback.

I never had a Pebble. But compared to all the Android Wear and Samsung Gear watches I've had, AW has stronger haptic feedback.

Is there any word on what functionality will be available on the Samsung Gear, or are we looking at a glorified pebble watch?
