he's referring to when your iphone locks, usually after 1 minute, u can go to setting and change it to never lock, but I don't know what affects that will have on a iphone, being on for so long straight...anyone have any input on that?

Just plug it into your dock ;)

Works great. I've just found a solution to my O2 broadband dongle and 3G iPhone rolled into one for €7.99

Now to see how it goes, up my data plan on the iphone and drop my mobile broadband USB dongle in the process.

followed the instructions to a tee and it Doesn't work. and BTW I don't see what's so great about this if you have to recreate the network settings everytime? If that's the case this isn't worth .99. I want it to be bone dead simple. They should automatically create the profiles for you on both ends. That's worth paying for

Unavailable AGAIN?

Has anyone else tried to download recently? I understand it came back this afternoon, but it appears to be "gone" again (unless I've missed something in the secret download process).

I just tried via the direct link (and also just searching in the store). Both methods I was able to bring up the App info page, click BUY and this is what I get:

netshare-vi.jpg

yeh it's not there... Again!

I wish I'd bought it while it was back up dammit

Mail wont work after installing netshare ??

It works thru Netshare fine and now it will NOT send mail. I have tried deleting and setting up the account again, but no luck. Receives fine.

Thanks

This is the kind of post I was talking about - Clearly this poster views this app as doing something wrong and feels that he has to defend the virtues of Apple and AT&T.

Har Funny - I'm a MobileMe customer, one of the 1% with plenty to complain about, so I don't stand up for Apple nor AT&T (I'm in the UK, why do I care?); perhaps I just like stealing ice cream from kids who always cry "me me me".

My post wasn't about the app, it was - if you haven't figured it out yet - about people like you who think they're owed the world on a stick.

Before the tethering app existing, would you have complained? No. But because you've seen it (or even just heard about it), you think you deserve it.

How childish.

Kudos to the few posters who rightfully corrected me on real things such as data rates and traffic usage (good points), but no lollipop for you today.

How childish.

Ignore them. This is nothing new..a lot of people think it is because the iPhone is now out. But discussions over tethering charges for people not on a tethering plan have been beaten to death everywhere else. Let them run through their excuses, almost none of which will actually work should they decide to use that tactic with AT&T when they get billed for their tethering usage. (Also, I might note I have tethered my iPhone before, haven't been charged for it. AT&T prolly doesn't give a **** about very very light usage, but I know that they have the legal upper hand here anyway so I don't really have much to complain about except in an effort to lower the bill should I ever be billed for the tethering, and I know that I agreed to it when I signed the contract for my phone.)

Technically, this breaks AT&T TOS. It may not be against the TOS of another carrier for the iPhone data plan. It's a naughty on all sides in the US - looks like Apple made a big ****up in the US app store and users are using it like the tethering is part of their plan when it's not. It takes two to break the TOS.

GPL based app?

I bought the application while it was up...
It's a tad easier to use than using terminal and starting 3proxy.

However, I have a very strong suspicion that this null river application is just using the same GPL opensource 3proxy.
Most of the job is done there.

I'd be extremely surprised if null river rewrote from scratch a proxy server (it ain't easy !). Plus the way the application behaves (or more accurately misbehaved) is exactly the same as when I use the proxy server on my jailbroken phone...

If that's the case, wouldn't you expect Null River be bound to the GPL licensing and release the source code of their application? afterall the UI they have written is a tiny part of the overall application...

Rewriting that application based on 3proxy isn't difficult really, but unfortunately, you can't distribute it anymore
My $0.02

in the german iTS is gone too!

i bought it yesterday evening, when it went back up after the 1st removal...

WTF???

Why does AT&T care? Bits are bits, packets are packets. Whether they are used by a laptop or the iPhone itself, AT&T sees no real difference.

If they have capacity concerns, then assign a maximum transfer volume to the account, after which it gets throttled to sub-modem speeds for the rest of the month. This is what Sprint does and it works well for them.

You can tether as much as you want with Sprint's plans and capable phones. The only difference is the official "tethering" plan gives you a higher monthly transfer allotment.

Because #1 You are using a device you didn't get from AT&T to browse the internet, #2 They sell wireless service to customers with laptops, so that is taking from their revenue from that. #3 Because they say so. They own the network, they make the rules.

I wish they still had this app...without hacking

I had a chance to buy this app when it was first released and i thought 'no ill wait for when i need it'...I am the stupid. I wish they still had this app available for download on their webpage. For those crafty few who could just go find it. I realize hacking your phone takes no effort just a little time. But i like my iphone the way it is, i just want to be able to use this app.

at this time, without hacking your phone, you'd have to know someone who purchased it and has it in their itunes. Sync your phone to their computer and there you have it.

cool avatar btw.

ouch I dont want to hack so it looks like im in a bad position :(

thanks, also i love the avatar haha cant go wrong with shin chan
