i got my PAC code from Orange via post after about 4 days, but, the chap said that if i hadn't received it after 5 or so days ( i think there was a weekend in there) that I could call and they would tell me it was it would be on the system then.

T-Mobile will give you your PAC Code immediately over the phone, and then confirm it in writing a few days later. Pretty good.
My Orange PAC arrived after 5 business days (today) through the post. Just discovered that O2 closes customer service at 9PM, though!

I got my PAC code today from Orange in the post. Called up O2 and they said I should have my number porter over this time next week despite being told by 3 O2 store staff saying it could only be done during activation - shows what the know! The thing that annoyed me most was that I should have had my PAC code before activation but Orange decided not to process my request
