Are you sure you're British? You don't sound it - most brits can spell queue.
I can't imagine the iPhone being as instantly popular as in the states - if only because of the price compared to most 'free' mobiles elsewhere. Having said that my local apple store is the regent street one - I can't imagine that being a LITTLE bit busier than normal!
My local O2 manager said they would be from 9am when the shop opens and even told me how to sneak into the shopping center early to wait outside...but inside if you know what i mean. 😀
I’ve spent the past hour going from carphone warehouse to carphone warehouse (yes there are loads in Telford) Here are the points of ‘interest’
1) They will all get iphones on the launch day - how many? they DONT know!
2) ALL stores will shut at 4pm and REOPEN at 6pm and then close at 10pm
3) The staff are trained on how to use the iphone by a DVD - smart!
4) NO queue organisation is in place yet - or even if you are allowed to queue in the shopping centre stores!
5) They will only sell the item via CHIP & PIN no cash!
I havent had a chance to call in at the o2 store, I’m guesing its going to be the same sort of thing!
I am expecting a 6pm launch but will have to wait for confirmation from Apple
Also have read on the MacWorld UK site that Apple and O2 will be launching a big ad campaign 2 weeks before the iPhone is released. These will be the same ads to that the US have but with an English Voiceover.
I don't really sense any iPhone fever here as was exhibited in the USA. We'll see, but while I expect that the tills will be busy on November 11, I don't expect any sort of frenzy. A non-event really.
