I was one of the "lucky" people to place an order via the failover page. Just logged into my O2 account and I see an order in there!

on-011113xxx Apple iPhone 16GB Black Postpay SKU,Q1 08 Online GBP35 18M, Next Day Delivery

I'm hoping it'll make it for Friday, but I haven't had a tracking number yet.

My order still says in progress and I have not yet had any emails since the one asking for confirmation of ID and address, however, when I click on my order
number in the O2 order details page on their website I can see a DHL consignment number and dispatch date.

:)

@madmanuk: are you an upgrader or new? was it 8gb or 18gb and what time did you order? Thanks.

well blow me down,

after suffering that shambles and trying trying on the failover page, I have just had two emails from o2 confirming my order! Its even in my o2 orders aswell! Not holding out much hope that it will arrive on friday though:confused:

At least now I know Ill eventually get one, probably not Friday, but ill be happy with my original iPhone and 2.0 software until it comes.

Glad to hear some people are getting their order confirmations through after the shambles we all went through.

New Terms? Tariff Swapping?

Hello,

Did anyone who actually got through to make an order read the Terms and Conditions regarding moving between tariffs on your contract.

The old Gen 1 Terms states you could move once every month, both up and down. Have they kept to this?

If you 'purchase' a 16bg on the £75 tariff, can you downgrade your tariff the next month? Wishful thinking I know, but thought I would ask to see if anyone has a definitive answer on this...

Thanks

as far as I'm aware you have to wait 9 months.
That's what I've heard. It means that if you're thinking of getting the £35 a month contract, you should get the 45 and downgrade to 35 after 9 months so that you get double the minutes for 9 months, save £100 upfront cost and then save £10 overall as well! (£10 extra a month for only 9 months is total cost of £90 more, but you save £100 (+interest) so you save £10!)

I very much doubt it, the first iPhone contract was essentially a simplicty contract designed for the iPhone but tied to 18 months for no good reason.

I'm betting the new one, as the phone is subsidised will be downgrade after 9 months.

Exactly what I did :)

more o2 amusement - just phoned the local o2 store to find out what time they were opening (it's in a shopping mall) and they said

"sorry, i can't tell you, it's a secret"

i'm not kidding - a secret.

geeze

haha at least they are being truthful, I'll give em that!

Yes the 35p/m seems pointless when u can go on the £45p/m for a £100 less upfront, and then pay them 9 monthly installments of £10 then downgrade to the £35. Saving yourself £10 and gaining 5400 more minutes

I got a failback order through to the "OK" confirmation stage on Monday about 2pm, and overnight an order number has appeared "In Progress" on MyO2. They haven't charged my card yet, though...

I wonder if this means I will actually get an order despatched today for tomorrow delivery? I doubt it, actually, but fingers crossed anyway. I can imagine that my order will stay "In Progress" for eternity waiting for stocks to arrive!

Am going to call them at 8am to see if I can find out more information.

This seems pointless to me, clearly you're on the £35 contract as you'd not use everything the £45 gave you, so the extra minutes wouldn't be used anyway... so for the sake of £10 (and a bit of bank interest) I don't think it's worth it, as if you forget to downgrade in 9 months time, it can quickly start to cost you money... I'm just going to pay the £159 and be done with it.
