I have seen on a number of boards that O2 are allowing users to upgrade to the iPhone 3GS even though they are no eligible (either at the end of their current contract, or spend over £80 per month). Can people who are eligible / not eligible (O2 upgrades) to upgrade please post details of the following:

Are you eligible to upgrade: No
When does your O2 contract end: Jan '10
How much do you pay per month: £35

If we can find that O2 do not have a consistent policy with regard to upgrades then we maybe able to persuade them to allow people to upgrade at cheaper costs.

I think we can be pretty sure that O2 are being consistent with upgrades on the £35! Boo!

How much do you pay per month: £45 plan, but average spend is £93 per month, according to O2, yet I am still Blue (priority level)

Went to Apple White City this morning, 3rd in line, got the new 3GS on PAYG, swapped sim cards and now am using my contract sim in the new 3GS. O2 insists that you get a £10 topup SIM card on PAYG, but the Apple store are giving the £10 back as a voucher for people who have a 3G contract. Staff are aware of how unhappy 3G contract users are.

My contract renewal date says July 2007 in My O2 for some reason  but it won't let me upgrade. :(

I've been hearing this from lots of ppl, but there are all sorts of upgrade perks available with o2 that can help u upgrade early. Many of these might not be available for iPhone contracts, but you can always try and I suspect in a coupla months' time, o2 will have changed their tune anyways, as the phones won't be in such short supply.

As a blueroom priority club gold class member, you are entitled to bail out of 18 month contracts 3 months early.
As a blueroom priority club platinum member, you are entitled to bail out of 18 month contracts 6 months early.

Personally, I'm a little surprised by all this. I would have thought that all they wanted you to do was buy your way out of what remains of the subsidy, which should be about a third of the initial offline value of the phone this late into the contract.
