If this is the case, how could my phone possibly get to me any later than Tuesday? I just don't see how it could get delayed a whole day from such a straightforward process.

Not sure to be honest. The guy who works at UPS (flyingwasabi) mentioned that's how it usually goes for Express shipments (left around 3am or so and arrived in local airport by morning and then loaded to truck).

My buddies phone is in the Incheon batch (mine will be delivered tomorrow) and I told him I'm pretty sure I know why. Samsung made a call and those phones are getting through scans by the Samsung engineers right now. 6 months later you're going to see Samsung "innovate" a finger print scanner in the Galaxy S6 that looks exactly like the one in the iPhone 6.

There are 5 flights scheduled out of Anchorage for Lousiville this afternoon. This is a really good step. Now just to see if it can go local fast enough.

My cousin works for UPS and he's already loading trucks at 3:30 am. So to me that timeline makes sense for a Wednesday delivery date.

They load ground packages from 3:30 until the Air trailer gets there. The Air Trailer is usually the very last thing loaded. It is around 8:00 to 8:30A.M. when Air is loaded. I also work for Ups and thats how it works

1- It misses a key flight
2- Thursday packages get bumped for Express packages due Wednesday

Thanks for the clarification so that makes a lot of sense with the timeline I posted. Arrived at hub around midnight-2am then fly to local airport and then loaded by 8am ish for delivery.

I'm also on the Incheon flight and it should get here tomorrow!

Now trying to sort things through with UPS.
The UPS Customer Center is too far for me to pick it up
and I'm having problems with My Choice to hold it at a UPS Store (I know this'll delay it by a day...)

Now they're telling me "Unfortunately the package will not be available for delivery change options through My Choice. Packages that are shipped from another country are not eligible."

Argh. So basically I have to leave early from work and drive across the city to get it at will call or take off of work (not happening) to be sure to receive it tomorrow. What a pain.

Update: Now chatting online with the 4TH UPS rep. Ha. (Which happens to be the first person I was chatting with!...)

Awl heck, I'm not taking any chances and not loosing any work hours over this, so, I've submitted my request to UPS with my choice UPS IOS App to Will Call/ Hold package for pickup.

My house is reallllly close to a UPS hub. Does anyone know if they typically deliver from closest to farthest from the hub or vice versa?

Depends on the loop. They usually work out to the farthest point and make their way back. It's all about the EDD system that routes the deliveries

I'm just not holding my breath for a Tuesday date given how the delivery dates are fluctuating. Though it would be nice. I just don't want to feel disappointed. And everyone else should keep that in mind too, lest we have some crabby people tomorrow. We just have to remember we're a whole week and a half ahead of the original 10/1 date.

Just saw on CNN Russia's jets are flying close to the border again, this time Putin wants to steal our phones, USA sent some fighters to protect them.

Seems legit

I agree. Tuesday's just not going to happen; too much has to be timed perfectly. Wednesday is a real possibility for most people.

MID AFTERNOON UPDATE
3 flights en route to Alaska now

UPS105 Osaka to Alaska:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS105
ETA: 12:33PM AKDT (4:33pm ET)

UPS81 Shanghai to Alaska:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS81
ETA: 01:40PM AKDT (5:40pm ET)

UPS99 Incheon to Alaska:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS99
ETA: 02:22PM AKDT (6:22pm ET)

Upon arrival in Anchorage:
  • 3-3.5 hours to refuel/unload/re-load (based on historical data)
  • Using the same flight number, fly to US hub of Louisville, KY or Chicago/Rockford, IL. This is a 4.5-5.5 hours flight.

Upon arrival at KY/IL hub (est. Midnight - 2am on Tuesday 9/23):
  • Loaded to plane heading to your local airport by 3am-4am-ish??
  • Arrived at local airport in the morning and loaded to truck for delivery!

Note that this timeline is for UPS Worldwide Saver Express. If you are under the "Expedited" batch, I don't think it will go from KY/IL hub to your local airport right away (might take an extra day)

I was expecting my phone to come to me via KY, but since it's on 105 (from Japan), I'm wondering if it will go to Chicago. I guess I'll know later tonight or morning!

I've been following this thread since Page 1. Very entertaining to say the least and I've finally created an account so I can join in the discussion. My particular phone is in the Incheon flight with a delivery date of 9/25.

I do have a question for those of you who were successful in setting up your UPS MyChoice accounts to hold your packages at the UPS Customer Service Centers.

I also created an account, but for some reason, MyChoice won't recognize that I have a shipment coming in. I can't figure out why I can't do the same pick up arrangement but the rest of you can.

Well... my order finally moved... to Korea. It's been sitting somewhere in China for 3 days.

Expedited my *bleep*

Guess, the Thursday delivery is accurate.

Ha! I was going to do the same thing just for humor, but my PS skills are terrible.
