Lol only slight freak out. I'm so going in late to work just to hit up the UPS cc at 9am when they open. Don't wanna be late and walk in empty handed.

Just spoke to someone at UPS and they said sometimes scan records are delayed by a few events, ex: you tracking won't show its departed Louisville till it been scanned at your local UPS hub.

Let's hope that is what happened in some of our cases although consider me skeptical.

i pray this is the case and my phone is sitting on a MD11 currently over New Mexico

Yeah after what happened the other day with customs or whatever, I won't believe I'm getting my phone the same day till I see it's "Out for delivery".

So you're telling me even though tracking shows my iPhone is in freaking California, it could very well be in my town in Ohio, just hasn't been scanned by the local dudes yet?

Thats what I told you guys a few post ago
Mine is In Jamaica NY already but the Jamaica arrival scan came the same time as the departure scan in Kentucky

No way in hell I'm getting mine today. My scheduled delivery is today and the phone is still in Ontario, CA. I'm in San Antonio, TX .

Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

This....

I would wait until 8am-8:30am your local time as air package arrived LAST and won't be loaded to the truck until around this time. The trucks won't leave without air packages for the day.

If by 9am local time there is still no movements on your package then you might have to wait one more day but otherwise it should be here today.

Calm down people!

I completly agree. UPS has screwed up so badly. Next time they promise to deliver a package within 3 weeks and then turn around and deliver it within 5-6 days, I'm going to take legal action.

I know this is sarcasm, but let's be clear. This isn't "3 weeks..." for UPS. Apple's job was to get us a phone within the promised period. They over-delivered. UPS has no idea when our phone were supposed to get to us according to Apple, they just know they have a package that is supposed to get to the recipient within 48 hours of departing the country of origin (depending to some extent of the shipping method specified). The UPS staff who have been kind enough on the thread to provide some perspective have said as much.

As best I can tell, the trip from Asia was pretty much clockwork. I'm pretty stunned the phone didn't get here as scheduled and others have every right to be. This isn't Apple's issue, unless there's some import paperwork that still hasn't been released yet (which HAS happened before, specifically to me) that would require a package to sit before customs releases it. However, the fact that up to right now, 90 minutes before trucks start to roll out, my package is still in California AND the site says it's scheduled for delivery today is inexcusable. These phones are going to the most fervent Apple customers, and Apple should be aware that UPS is frustrating them with inaccurate shipping status messages and inefficient routings. (Florida by way of Cali? ) The only reason I can think of that my package was not on a plane to Louisville last night (as every other phone/MacBook/iPad) I have gotten from China goes, is that someone in AK messed up and had to "get these damn iPhones outta here" and so they just put them on a plane headed ANYWHERE south and would sort out the details later. If a customer was inconvenienced, I'm guessing the AK cargo crews weren't gonna lose much sleep over it.

I will assume the legal action threat is a lack of coffee talking (and sarcasm), because no one believes anyone is going to sue for a day's delay in getting an iPhone. However, UPS did mess this up, and I've been trying to give the benefit of the doubt even as the phone sat in ZhengZhou for days with no scans, no delivery update, just the conjecture of folks in this thread. The fact that so many stories went around about where these shipments were based on which rep someone got to talk to is further evidence of the issues I raise. UPS needs to live up what Apple expects if they are going to be Apple's shipper, because the Apple's reputation is coming along for the ride with whoever they choose (and whether or not that ride does or doesn't happen as expected).

I'm sure some people will tell me to "Relax, it's just a phone" but they're missing the point. Purchasing with Apple isn't just a phone. Like what makes the products so endearing (and Apple likes to say in it's promotional materials), it's an experience. To start the relationship with this new product and have a crap experience because of the one company that ISN'T Apple isn't fair to Apple or the customer, and does say something about why Apple is so highly regarded: because most companies don't sweat the details like they should.

The UPS guy who has been posting here mentioned that it was Chinese customs holding up our phones in Zhengzhou for some security scans. Nobody would've expected that because they ship so many of these at a regular basis.

Same...here..

Exactly. So post an update so customers and CR reps know, and update the status posting accordingly. Delays happen, especially where government is involved UPS should be held blameless. But they also have taken custody of something that isn't theirs and is transporting it between two parties. There needs to be better transparency for all parties involved, including the shipper.

We give credit where credit is due and also call out bad info when it happens. Techedude has claimed to work for UPS and have insight into how this all works, but he has been wrong the entire time. First he guaranteed delivery early because he knows how it works then he claimed all Air packaged (saver AND expedited) will be out of Louisville to our local hubs this morning and that was also wrong. The list goes on.

I appreciate contributions to this thread as much as the next guy, but wild guesses passed off as inside information is where I draw the line.

Oh well, I guess I am not getting it today like many of you :(

So far..no hope for today.

If you do not have a departure scan from Lousiville, it is not a glitch. You are still there. Phones would be out for delivery already if they had made it to your local hub.

I agree with this 100%.

Keep in mind we are ALL getting out phones earlier than the originally promised delivery dates of Oct. 1- Oct. 6

And still later than people who can walk into an apple store right now and buy one even though we "pre-ordered"
