Are you implying that my phone has been circling the 155 miles of convoyer belts for a day and a half... despite the massiveness of the system, that seems very unliekly... yes worldport is HIGHLY automated... but given the number of orders, someone has to move them off the line.. yes the conveyor will dump it off at an outflow station "for holds".. but its not like that outflow station can pile up on its own and make its way back on its own (unless there is something beyond what is shown in all the videos of the place) .. someone has to tend to the hamper or whatever is collecting the 'hold me' packages .. then later someone has to move them back to the line... and it takes up warehouse space, space that could be used for other things... all of those have costs... granted we are talking a few cents a package... but it still is more than having a guy/girl unload the pod to the belt.. belt runs it to customs.. runs through the maze, to another guy/girl who puts it back on a pod to leave.
