but normall it takes 5-7 business days.. so if they're waiting for a month, they're only saving 3 weeks.

Oct. 1 to 6 2014 Delivery Date Orders (Update) Delivered earlier!

I was really pissed about my reservation showing a delivery date for 9/19 and after receiving the completion email it changed to 10/1. I also took a screenshot of the info as well.
Needless to say I decided to give Apple my $.02. Now it's being looked into by a manager and hopefully they can make things right.
I know I know, it's just a freakin' phone but it's a phone w/ a price tag of $850!
Plus, I was up from 1am to 4am trying to get this processed.
For this being Apples release system I just feel it's unacceptable.
Anyways, I'll give an update "IF" there's a resolution. As for now, mark me down as a 10/1 a 10/6 member.

Yeah, this is the gamble. I'm not willing to lose my Oct 1-6 pre-order by canceling it early so I'm going to wait a few hours in line. If they have my model, I'll cancel my Apple order using my phone and PRAY the AT&T upgrade resets quickly. I know many people who got it reset in less than 10 minutes but I also have heard stories of days.
Going to roll the dice.
Last year I ordered a space gray 5S and once I got it I decided to get a gold. When I returned it at the apple store my upgrade reset instantly and I was able to get a gold 5S.
It's your call if you want to chance it, just throwing my experience in.

I thought about this as well, But i'm really worried it won't reset right away and I don't think they will hold the phone there while I stand in a corner calling att all day on launch day trying to get my eligibility to reset lol.
Yeah that's a possibility but it's worth a shot to me. Usually they come down the line and ask what you want. If they have it, they let you know and you stay in line. That should buy me long enough to get it reset. At least that's what I'm hoping.

iPhone 6 Plus 64GB Space Gray (GSM), AT&T
I actually was still up before the preorder start at 3AM ... I had intended to nap, but never happened... prior to this preorder, I got burned royally on the Iphone5 pre-order... some madness with moving within a month or so of the launch, and being an ATT Premier user (stupid FAN accounts) I wound up having 2 preorders cancelled by ATT for "fraud protection" or some such non-sense... never wound up buying an Iphone5 ... and as Iphone5s had no preorder, I really had no desire to stand in line, and really nothing too striking in improvement on it (other than I really wanted to stop paying subsidy carrier pricing for a phone that already had paid off months and months before) ... before those at I had been on the preorders and had iphones the first day just about every phone before that (actually I think one of them arrived the day before)... anyhow... had verified my account information on apple and att... really had no desire to work with ATT, but had tabs for ATT, and two apple store pages loaded.. and went on the apps thing on my iphone and made sure i had no updates for the apple store... so I thought I was ready...
10 minutes before started refreshing all of them about once a minute...
After 3:01 am et I started more routinely refreshing the pages...
ATT was the first to show up for me, I dont remember the time.. but it went through the works, and then after selecting my phone and configurations, it then sent me to the premier site, and basically wanted all the information again and already was saying multi-week delay... so I gave up on that and kept on the iphone and apple websites.... the iphone was showing "unavailable" as a screen and web the "we'll be back" ... then started seeing twitter messages of "ordered on the app" and I was like "how???" .. after it had been an hour or so.. finally was like "something has to be wrong with apple store app" .. double checked the apps store.. didnt show an update available... then i decided to search for the apple store again... and yes it was like "update available" ... clicked it "this update requires ios 7" ... DOH~ i forgot i never updated to ios 7 because the claimed performance issues on such old hardware... anyhow.. updated it the ios.. then the app.. and suddenly i could see the phone ... but there was no "continue" button... I kept fighting at it.. closing the app and restarting.... finally got through and it couldnt verify with ATT... so got a reservation, but it wasnt clear that hapened.... so I tried again and finally got back through and it cleared att and yeah.... oct 1 to 6... so really no different than what I could have gotten AT launch + 1 minute... I even tried to upgrade shipping from bulk rate 1 week to something better... no options to choose... so just completed... and just as I finished, finally the apple website appeared...
I feel a little cheated... but then again, it is what it is.... I do think I was mislead by Apple as in the Keynote is surely seemed like they were going to have far more to meet demand.. but guess that was just my poor interpretation of what was said... but it seems obvious the iphone plus was underbuilt
I really think apple needs to extend the time from pre-order to launch... so they can actually gauge and build "just-in-time" closer to the actual demand like most companies do... I think they grossly underestimated the 6 versus 6+ ... I'm used to pre-orders where the production release is 6 months after the product annoucement, and the order window is small so they can build to what the preorder was... Im not saying that necessarily is desirable, but it really would help lessen some of the madness that is this "omg its next week" and the logistics that are involved and the insane it sells out in 1 minute stuff...
received both my confirmation of processing and an email for the other reservation from when ATT couldnt verify...
But hopeful that some of the double/extra reservations will clear, and they will slide people up the line... but who knows..... I don't know why I still bother with these apple releases .... stupid "want to be first" human tendencies...

So far, no credit card activity from Apple - looks like I am not the only one.
One order was at 1:30 PST the other at 2:15 PST. FWIW, both orders were made as soon as I could place them.

There won't be any credit card activity for several days yet; they don't charge until they actually ship, and if you're in the 7-10 business days until shipping, you know you've got at least a week yet.
I checked my credit card and saw a pending charge amount "0" the moment I placed the order, they just checking your info. they charge at or after shipping.
For those of us in this delivery window, I'm going to be optimistic here: we'll get them on Sept. 26th!
