If you put in your 9 digit zip code in UPS tracking by reference and pick Mail Innovations, It shows a package for me but doesn't have any details.

EDIT: Never mind i debunked that. Changed the ship date to 9/1/14 and it still shows up.

And, again, 123456789 also brings up that there's a package.

It finds a package for the number 123456789 as well sadly.

I predict by the end of the night, we will have hacked UPS and Fedex website and will know the shipping date of all 4 million iPhones

Sorry to break it to you, but putting in W123456789 / 123456789 for the reference and 12345-6789 for the zip comes up with an in transit status.

it's totally possible W123456789...would work because it's default sequence of numbers that's never used for orders, after all it's 123456789

Try any other random numbers and it doesn't work. But put in your order, phone number and it works - this can't be random.

I guess we'll know soon enough if we get a tracking number tonight. Apple charged my credit card today, they gotta be shipping.

This is a great thread. Just reinforces the whole misery loves company thing. You know?

So, I got four orders through on pre-order night (all of them 7-10 day shipping) the very second Apple would allow me to. One of them ended up getting swapped out for one reservation that actually went through, and that phone delivers tomorrow, but that's not part of this story, really.

The other three phones were saying 7-10 days with the same Oct. 1st to 6th delivery date as everyone else. So I called Apple to ask what's up, ended up having an hour and a half long conversation with a really, REALLY nice girl from customer support. I SUPPOSE you could say it was more of an hour and a half of flirting than conversation, but that doesn't particularly matter.

She ended up expediting all of my orders to next day shipping, which changed the delivery dates to Sep. 29th to Oct. 1st. That sounded a lot better for me. This was on 9/12, shortly after I woke up at like 1PM EST.

Then on Sunday 9/14, those three orders updated to say that the delivery window was now Sep. 24th to Sep. 29th. Obviously I was really, really excited.

Fast forward to this morning--the orders have all updated to "Preparing for Shipment" and all pushed their dates back to Sep. 29th to Oct. 1st (!!!!) I immediately called Apple, bewildered, and after being put on hold 3 times by a guy who sounded EXACTLY like Lyle from Under the Dome (actor Dwight Yoakam), was eventually just told that there were over 4 million pre-orders and that my phone is in the warehouse to be shipped, but somehow despite overnight shipping, it'll be roughly 11+ days before I actually get my phones.

None of this makes any sense to me, and I'm kind of upset about it. That whole 9/24 delivery being dangled in my face is what ultimately killed me here. I went into my countdowns app and had to change the date and seeing that number jump up to 11 days, just...ugh.

Same experience I had (sans Dwight Yoakam). Second call today got another really nice lady that offered me a free leather case. I was gonna let the 6+ go commando for a bit but a nice lil leather jacket can't hurt. Sooooo back to waaaaiiittting but at least the status is Preparing for Shipment :)

It just seems too easy to "fake out" the system and get a status; I have a hard time believing this is legit. Not to mention that I haven't seen anyone else getting Fedex shipments; maybe that's because they were all coming from China and these are coming from within the U.S., but that just seems like wishful thinking.

I do agree though that we should be getting some kind of info soon. If the status of our orders had simply changed I would be skeptical, but having been charged for both my orders I can't help but think that we're on our way.

You want it so bad that you can't see clearly
I changed my order number by one digit and my phone number by one digit, and it still gave me an 'in transit' status, clearly a bug.
Actually, as mentioned by other, UPS has the same bug...

Apple use next day air shipping. Right btw it's processing so I think we all will get the iPhone by the end of next week (mine estimated 1-7 October)

i tried w555444333/5554443332 with my zip code and it gave the same in transit results :(

Most likely what is happening is that Apple purchased a flat rate fee for shipping the iPhones from fedex. FedEx then generated a few million tracking numbers from the order number sequence range Apple gave them a few weeks ago.

So the order numbers show up in the FedEx system.

I don't think so. W123456789 doesn't seem like a tracking number that Fedex would be passing out.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure that's not even how it works. Tracking numbers are generated when labels are printed, which is tied into the shipping system, if I understand it correctly.

Most online sites will only charge your card for preorders when they're getting ready to ship. I know Amazon preorders work this way.

ok fair enough, looks like the fedex reference tracking is a dead end. Wait that's not random that's 555444333...jk... ah who knows what's right ;)

Ya that's an order number..

Haha, free cases are always nice. My leather cases came in and i really like them. I'm on hold with Apple right now, maybe I'll get something free. :D

Does anyone know if you have to sign for the iPhone? The last pre-order I did was the 5 and I didn't have to sign then

We're all depressed.

Cheer-Up-.jpg

Depressed? lol try still stuck in processing and the money still in the bank! Thats depressing! Everyone else preparing for shipment and I am stuck at the same place since last friday! lol (Did I honestly say money in the bank is depressing?!?! :p )

I'm with you. I've never wanted someone to take my money so badly. I wish there was some logic behind who has progressed and who hasn't. I've seen multiple people that ordered the same phone as me, after me, and they are already preparing to ship while I'm still processing.

This is my first time actually having to wait for my pre-order past release day (I usually never have a problem ordering them and getting them on time) and I'm having a hard time figuring out if I enjoyed this experience better or not.

The only downside, besides not getting it on the release date, is that I'm going to have to suffer through a few days of seeing other people with their iPhone 6/6+
