Yeah bro. I feel you. If I don't receive a email by Friday I'm just going to cancel it and take my chances locally. Two weeks after release i have got to have a better chance locally even without a Apple Store in my area.
Update. I've been on preparing to ship for 24 hours. Credit card (Bank of America) shows a pending charge from Apple for full amount.
Oh, and for those who missed it: ordered on Sept 14. 7 Plus, 128 matte, unlocked (paid full price for phone) Shows delivery between Oct 7 and 13.

Preorder is kind of pointless when people are able to purchase the phones at the Apple store. I would do the same, but the closest one is 3 hours away. The phone isn't worth that much of my time. It's incredibly frustrating how Apple has handled the iPhone 7 preorders.
Same here. Last year, I ordered a SG 6s+ nearly 12 hours after preorders started and received it on launch day. Granted, it wasn't the "hot" color last year, but everything this year is delayed.
I'll be the first to admit that this is a first world problem, but it seems like Apple's launches are getting worse. I would be a little more understanding if this was a complete internal/external redesign.
Although this has happened in the past, I don't think this cycle of product scarcity at launch is sustainable for an indefinite number of years to come.
32GB Black 7+ ordered at 7AM Est. I am still processing with no charge. I managed to chat with apple today and they said I will not be charged until phone is ready to be shipped. They also said its not likely it will move up drastically but its also a chat so who knows. I used the upgrade plan.
Could it be possible that they're addressing the hissing noise that people have been complaining about? Or the controversial sapphire lens cover? Haha I've given up hope on getting my phone this week. I'm guessing it'll be here next Monday or Tuesday. Oh well
Eh, it doesn't matter. Apple going to sell 100 million of these things between now and Christmas. Next year, same thing. They simply can't make enough of them to have on hand at launch (or for a few weeks after). This is nothing new, and has been ongoing since the 4 came out.
No other phone vendor has the same issue, because to them, if they sell a million in a week, they are giddy. Apple sold 34,000 phones per hour for an entire financial quarter when the 6 came out. I don't think for a moment Apple is holding back; I do think there simply isn't enough manufacturing capacity to produce what Apple needs at times.
Store purchase is pretty much a no go here in Miami so only choice is to pre-order.

I ordered the 7+ 128GB matte black through the Apple Store. Confirmation email came in on 9/9 at 3:47 EDT. I'm still in "processing" and it still says 10/4-10/10. No movement at all and my card hasn't been charged.

Yep, you're exactly right. I don't think they're holding back, either, but you'd think one of the richest companies in the world could gauge demand for their new products and meet supply. It's not just iPhones, but Watches, iPad Pros and their related accessories, etc.
I'm not planning on leaving iOS. I really like the products, just a little frustrated with the delays. It will get here when it gets here!
It is very frustrating. This is the first year I haven't gotten my phone on launch day. This year does not seem the norm from past launches. I was hoping to see some movement this week, but now I'm thinking we probably will get our phones by oct 1 at the earliest

Hope you're right! The only thing that could give me a little comfort now is that ours in the next batch may have not those annoying problems.

cancelled it 9/13 and they have not reversed my upgrade until this morning after days of calling. reordered iphone7+ 128gb today has a ship date of 10/13-10/19
