Woohoo - just moved to SHIPPED!

Here's my timeline:
6am PST order 44mm Space Gray w/ Sport Loop
Originally 10/12-19 Delivery
10/1 Moved to Preparing to Ship
10/2 11pm PST Moved to Shipped via Fedex, arriving 10/8*

Interesting note: My email actually says "Delivers Oct 9." But when I track shipment, it says "Arrives Mon Oct 08."

At any rate - extremely happy I get it next week, because after that I'm traveling for 2 weeks straight!

I set my alarm for 3:56 AM eastern time instead of 2:56 AM on Sept 14. I am such a dumbass. Completed preorder of a gold SS 44 with stone sports band at 4:05 AM. Delivers Oct 12-19. Did I mention that I am a dumbass? Received email early this morning (Oct 3) that my watch has shipped. Delivery is scheduled for Oct 8. Nice.

I, too, am a dumbass. I had mine set for the correct time, the day *after* the preorders started. I realized my mistake around the same time your alarm went off and placed the order. Got the same projected date you did, and now delivery scheduled Oct 8th.

Guess we got on the same plane too. I wonder if it is shorter than the other planes.

Fedex is waiting on a fresh rubber band for their plane. I've never seen the shipping this slow....no wonder they ship on Tuesday with a following Monday delivery. "What we deliver by delivering"..... the slowest delivery service?

Same. And I'm not complaining because it's earlier which is great, but I'm surprised that it will take a full 6 days to get here after shipping. Apple ships most things with 2-day.

I've noticed this in previous releases. If you have release day they move mountains (and planes) to get it to you on release day... but beyond that, it's the luck of the draw how quickly you get it....

It would be nice, but you'd think there would be a departure scan from Shanghai.
I know. It's wishful thinking. They will probably leave on tomorrows flight. :(

I was hoping to get it on Friday since I won't be working on Monday and that's where it's being delivered.

See? If you asked, I would have told you. Ian and I were up ordering. ;)

Miss you, btw.

Yea, I expect we'll all be seeing that as the day goes on. Why Apple is now using a second rate carrier is beyond me.

Given that the original estimate was for 12-19 October, it is hardly likely that early shipping would mean any special priority was being given to the shipment.

I would also hazard a guess that with so many orders having been placed these shipments are very large, so not exactly in the logistical mainstream.

I know that I would be very happy to see my watch delivered before the original estimate, but I didn't expect that to be the case when I saw what the estimate was when I ordered. Nor do I feel entitled to an early delivery, just the watch I paid for by the date I was told to expect it.

Well I guess the email knew better.

Just got a FedEx update via email - Delivery by 8pm on Tuesday Oct 10.
Currently showing “international shipping release” in Shanghai.

Oh well - still a week earlier which is good.

Yea, maybe I expect to much from a company with a market value over $1 billion. You know, like having a better projection on pending sales. Something more than 5 minutes of pre-order stock for launch day. Within 2 hours they were already pushing out delivery by 3 weeks. Even the iPhone launches lately haven't had that quick of an extended backlog. And given this poor projection and lack of planning they could at least expedite shipping. So what if it lowers their high profit margin a little, actions like that normally instill a sense of loyalty and repeat business. As for the logistics, this isn't the first or largest such launches by Apple so I'm not buying that.

I don't have any choice really but to wait. I do, however, have a right to be disappointed in Apple and vent a little.

You do absolutely have a right to be disappointed and to vent a little. Don't let my belief that Apple are likely to be doing the best they can to get supplies into the hands of customers as quickly as possible put you off thinking you know better!

Okay - I figured out what's happened to my package. It's on a ricksha in Shanghai China:

- Released twice - 7:09 PM and 10:24 PM. Since then, it's been "In Transit" in Shanghai at 10:25 PM and 11:52 PM.

Maybe it will get on a plane Saturday.

Thanks for the tip. And hello from Cincinnati as well :)

So which sleep app detects when you actually fall asleep on its own... in place of you actually hitting a “start” button ?

On the same ricksha... o_O
