Very underwhelmed.

Also, not to get off topic...but no mention of MacOS High Sierra or iOS 11 availability.

Very un-Apple.

:apple:

iOS 11 will be available September 19th

Just watch, a week or two after the keynote some Apple Engineer figures out how to incorporate TouchID into the display... and it becomes the best kept secret until next year's iPhone release. I have a feeling Tim really tried to stall as long as possible before unveiling iPhone 8's ship date... why else would it be over a month after announcement?

I agree. It will come back.

It's going to screw up everyones upgrade plan if you are on Apple or Next. My upgrades have always coincided with the September release even if I skipped a year.

I might pass

I can wait the month this issue is that even then your probably another month before you can actually get it. That said looking forward to the insanity of plane and UPS tracking.

No mention of the Mac at all, which used to be very unlike Apple, but in recent years the Mac has almost been an afterthought. Apple did put the High Sierra release date up, September 25.

Investor expectations. Apple wants to close FY2017 results with a bang.

They have to sell iPhone 8 because iPhone 7 sales have been flat.

My thing is... I'm in the IUP. So by the time it releases, I'll have made 2 extra payments than the 12. So how does that play into it? Honestly just thinking I'll keep my 7 Plus for another year. I'm not tempted by the 8 at all.

Edit: and that's assuming I even get one at launch.

And after we make the 2 extra payments...and assuming we get one at launch...we will be "off-cycle" for the next phone if it releases in September next year. Which, I assume, means we will have to make up those payments before upgrading.

That's my thought also. Just because I'm crazy like that, I might upgrade to the 8+ and see what next September brings.

Thank you sir! I thought maybe they would at least give a sneak peek at the new Mac Pro. I mean come on, this keynote was absolutely terrible. To make things worse it was the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and they blew it, in my opinion. They should have let us pre-order on 9/15 and then ship in October or as soon as available. What does this do to people that use carrier plans like AT&T Next? It will probably mess everything up because next year the iPhones will probably all launch in September.

I totally agree. They should let us pre-order on 9/15, it may even help them gauge demand. Having it so late when they've already finalized pricing makes absolutely no sense...

my 6s+ is still damn solid so i honestly may just hold on to it u less tmobile has another great trade up deal

Wow. I fully expected a preorder on 9/15 with probably early October deliveries. But can’t preorder until the end of October for a November release? They better have a crap ton available on 11/3. I don’t want to hear about delays into December for preorders.
Delays will be easily into next year for those that don’t preorder immediately. Especially with the holiday season and the multitude of new components used in the X. That’s my take on it.

I wonder if this helps soften / reduce demand for the iPhone X. Some people don't want to wait, others will have more time to mull it over and might decide to either go 8 / 8 Plus, or Android.

This is what I posted in one of the preorder threads.... we would have to make two more payments next year if that phone comes out on 'schedule' with no credit for making (essentially) the same payments on a phone (yes, we are still using it...) we didn't want to be on this year...

I guess the point will have to be chalked up to: the extra payments this year are rent for the current phone (ugh), and next year the extra payments will have to be chalked up to catch-up to get back on track if we really want the X.

And, yes, as was said, that all assumes we get one ordered October 27 and delivered November 3. What a mess. We talked about this happening (delayed release) when the IUP was set up, and here we go!

If the cell phone companies in this country (US) were not so greedy, a good idea would be that if we do pre-order the X, the cell phone companies would give us those two payments as credit for ordering the iPhone X on their network. I know that will not happen, but it sure would be nice if they do something for us because I do not want to get "off-cycle." This is why I am considering just getting the iPhone 8 Plus and getting the new version of the iPhone X next year, when hopefully touchID is under the screen! You can tell this was a rushed release all the way around.

I was going to post this too, but you put it succinctly. Whoever buys this one and is on IUP/NEXT is going to make an extra 1-2 payments which can come close to $100 extra for the X over the 8.
So you're looking at paying an extra $300 for Apple/AT&T for the lateness of the X. It might be better to just sell the iPhone on your own this time and just pay for the unlocked version to guarantee the superior Qualcomm modem...

I’m waiting on the X I bet they will push the date up and we won’t have to wait quite that long but if we do I’m ok with that cause the screen is what I want
