video?

My apologies of this question was asked-and answered-before. Is there a video of the let's rock event? Usually it's on apple.com, but i can't find it...and Macrumors is not supplying a link. I really enjoy how Jobs speaks as he unveils the new products.

The keynote usually isn't posted until about 6-8 hours after it ends so it can be processed and edited.

I have to say that the earbuds look nice, but I know they will crap out after a month or two. The Nano still looks like $h!t, but it's worth a closer look due to it's features.

This is the first time Apple produced something ugly with specs worth giving it a second look.

According to the spec page, no mention of iPhone compatibility, unfortunately:

"The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models."

i would say no compatibility .. notice that it's just the new models they introduced so it looks to have something to do with the chipset/design

Nano looks ok

(sigh)

I bet a tablet mac that they will find the Higgs boson before Apple issues a decent update on their MBP line.

if i were too choose a color for the nano i'd be stuck between red and orange

Yeah, Im stuck between red and orange also......Red, because it awesome and my favorite color, but orange because it also cool and it matches my shuffle...

in-ear headphones

WHY!?!? They are so awesome, but I just wish they'd work as replacements for the ones that came with my iPhone. Now I'm forced to look for third party in-ear headphones that have a mic for talking on the phone...DOH!

If you say so. Glad they went back to the 2G Nano stick look but I still think keeping it square would have been better.

Or you could get the crappy ones from Apple again. ;)

I can't see apple not making them iPhone compatible, that'd be stupid. I'm betting those requirements will change with the release of 2.1 on Friday, which will add support for the remote buttons.

So, looks like I was right about the black-backed iPod touch :p

And yes, we were both right about the overall predictability of the event haha.

Interesting that the Shuffle colors went back to the previous colors (minus the orange, which is now available on the new 4G nanos).

I'd be curious to try out the new headphones. $80 may not be bad if they have a great sound.

Genius playlist feature

All I can say, out of everything new with iTunes (content, views, etc), Genius is by far the best thing. It takes a minute to scan through all the music and send it to apple, but once done it makes it sooo nice for just listening to random music that sounds alike. When I have thousands of songs of very very different types, this creates a playlist quickly based on a kind of song I like. I know there are ways of doing this with smart playlists, but its very difficult and time consuming.

Pretty much. I am completely shocked and pissed off about the lack of a 160GB iPod, so some of the newbies were half right. It does make more sense for Apple to take it out and give a size that is inbetween, but come on!

And the earbuds aren't as good as I thought, still a rip off. $80 and you can only use them for the newer iPods sans the shuffle and iPhone...

Oh well, makes me want to go and grab the Bose around ear headphones even more.

I may just skip watching the keynote since everything is pretty much what the sensible people predicted, and I can see the iTunes 8 stuff once I download it.

p.s. Kick @$$ that NBC got their retarded @$$E$ back on the iTunes bandwagon. I wonder how much it will cost to get my already purchased Heros episodes converted to HD, or if I have to buy them over again. I would buy them again if need be.

I hope it's not true that Apple was begging journalists to the event and telling them it's going to be "a big deal", because to me the announcements are fine, but nothing at all groundbreaking. If they cry wolf too many times, people might stop covering them when it really is a big deal.

I agree with you and get your point - but i somehow think they'll always get the coverage they want!

It's passed 2 hours already and Genius has not scanned half of my library so far...

I agree somewhat, but I think a lot of people got their panties in a bunch because they wanted it to be something as ground breaking as the iPhone. Not that you thought that way, but a LOT of newbies and fanboys were claiming Steve would have pulled the Holy Grail out of his @$$ during this event and plugged an iPhone 4G into it.

For me, the biggest parts are the new Nano, albeit ugly, the new earbuds, and iTunes getting some much needed HD content and NBC back. Not earth shattering, but well worth an event. As a journalist, I wouldn't have wasted my time, but as an Apple product end user, ever happy to see these things.

Sorry you are disappointed, Digital Skunk.

More things will come...don't worry.

I'm watching the keynote now...pretty boring, nothing that we didn't already know.

Is this the first time Apple actually took out a higher capacity model in exchange for a smaller one? I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Why would they do that? They should have put the 160 at the price of the old 80, and then put a 240 or something at the price of the 160 (or just discontinued the 80 and kept the 160 as the only model). Weird.

Great, I don't wanna buy anything now. No 64 gig iPod Touch so that's out of the question until next year I guess. I can't even buy the frigin' in-ear earphones since they're not really compatible with my iPhone or my 1st generation iPod Touch except for audio :( Come on Apple, either make them compatible for the iPhone or release and in-ear version for the iPhone asap. I hate the ones that come with the phone.
