Interesting. I'm surprised it's taken so long for this to come out.
It is strange that this did not go out with the original release in June (when we actually received the watches - yes I have not let that go and am still angry about it). I wonder if this is an afterthought or what reason they would have for waiting on releasing the dock.

The packaging looks suspect. There's no way Apple would design a box that doesn't fit uniformly. I'm calling shenanigans as the box, and the horrible front artwork, don't seem right.

I hope their design meetings were straight out of Hudsucker Proxy.

A dock that is cost more than a 3rd gen Apple TV? No thank you, I have a very nice $11 dock that gives me night stand mode. And since I have absolutely no problem with my dock I seen no reason to go spend $79 on an Apple one. Really $79?!
Just charge your Apple Watch with your 3rd gen Apple TV.

$79? Ok, found my limit on what I would buy from Apple.

Yep. same here. These guys are just out of control now. If it charged my phone AND watch AND came with all needed components I would pay $79. But this pile of crap is just nonsense.

Just seems atypical for Apple; packaging usually more minimalist on the outside. With the iPhone docks, there wasn't a diagram on the box.
Looks fairly typical to me of Apple Watch-style packaging. The bands have similar looking instructions printed on the piece which slides out holding the band showing how to fasten it.

From what I can tell, this is basically a large paperweight. The center circle seems to pop up 90º for "Nightstand" mode charging or else folds flat for tabletop charging and transport. I'm also guessing that there is a groove around the edge of the dock where you can wrap the cord.

And yes...this dock seems a little silly (mostly bc of its price), but I'm sure the team that designed it will be happy to see it in stores. The good thing is that if you don't like you don't have to buy it ;-)

Anyone else thought it was a DVD for a split second? :D
Nope

Nifty. Now hurry up and make more Pencils!
A different thread, i believe.
From the looks of it, the entire circular cylinder seems capable of charging the watch on contact. Cool design and I am glad I didn't rush to buy 3rd party stand.
I've been using my 3rd party charger for some time. Glad to have had it.
Next up: the official Apple pencil cup.
Doubtful. how would you charge the pencil from a cup?
It'd be great if it docked both the Watch and the iPhone.
Nope

Hurry up and put this up on the Apple Store online. Need to order two.

Based on new photos, I like it! Its nice and minimal. None of the docks so far had caught my attention and I like that this can do two things and doesn't look like any of the other 3rd party docks. Yeah I think this is the one i'll finally get!
