my girlfriend forced me to go see the movie opening night. i suggested we just not do that and instead watch re runs of house.

she won.

the whole romance thing isnt my style.
but i like vampires.
things revolving vampires are neat though.
so im reading through the books.

i just finished new moon and im on eclipse.

new moon wasnt as...thrilling as i was hoping it to be, so im having doubts about if this series is "for me".

ill be back when im done.

Yeah Host is amazing... not AS sappy as teh Twilight series IMo..

@liquidtrend..

yeah itw a steh same for me.. new moon. was...the one i like dteh least form all four...

I loved the books. (Twilight and Breaking Dawn were my favorites) And I can't wait for Midnight Sun, if she ever finishes it.

I saw the movie opening night....and I wasn't impressed. It was decent I guess, but nowhere near as captivating as the book. I understand they only had two hours to cram everything into, but I feel like the skipped a lot of the best parts, or they shortend them beyond an enjoyable experience.:(

really? I was satisfied with it... it was better than i Expected that's for sure

I've convinced a lot of friends and family to read them, and that was the one complaint. They all loved the book, but oftentimes it got overly sappy. This was a complaint of mine as well, but I never felt that it ruined them, just slightly detracted from what could have been. I saw it for a second time last night and caught some things I hadn't seen the first time. I still enjoyed it though and look forward to the rest of the movies.

yeah. i still liked the books, but i would have liked them more without being so sappy.

i still haven't seen the movie. after eragon's movie, i'm kinda hesitate to watch the movie

i loved this movie so much. i didn't want it to end when it did... i really hope they decide to make the next one! EDWARDS ROCKS !!!!!

I think just about everyone can agree that "New Moon" was the weakest of the 4 novels. This is not to say that it wasn't a good book, just that it didn't captivate me as strongly as the other 3; well, not until the end at least. I'm curious to see how they'll proceed with the movie. Will we get to see Edward while he's away? That's the only way I think they'll be able to salvage a film out of this.

Can I ask a book question? I'm not sure now if I'm hallucinating this or if I just can't find it again. Early in Eclipse, there's the scene where Edward asks Bella why she keeps reading Wuthering Heights over and over again, and then towards the very end, there're the scenes where Edward says he is beginning to sympathize with Heathcliff and where Bella defends Cathy.

I feel like there was another conversation somewhere where there's an impassioned defense of the novel on the grounds that, if people like Heathcliff can experience true love in spite of being monsters, maybe there's hope for other monsters (like Edward) too. But I can't for the life of me find it, and now I'm beginning to wonder if it's actually there.

Anyone help me out?

I remember this conversation, but having only read through the books once I can't recall where it was. I'll check with my ultimate Twilight authority friend and try to get back to you. :p

I also remember that conversation but don't know where it is, I am re-reading them right now so i will let you know if i come across it..

Twilight (contains SPOILERS)

I like the film, although I think the end was disappointing, she should have been turned into a vampire, although it leaves space for it to happen in a possible sequel! There are other books, after all!

(I made my own thread coz I never saw this one so the mods merged my post into here)

If you know what happens in the rest of the series, why were you surprised that Bella didn't become a vampire at the end of Twilight? How would Eclipse or New Moon, or for that matter the first few chapters of Breaking Dawn, make any sense if Bella became a vampire right then and there? :p

I never said I actually read the books, I just know of their existance!

This thread has too long been inactive. Thought I'd give it another chance at life to see if any more MR members have read or become interested since the thread pretty much died off right as the "Twilight" movie was released. Now "New Moon" is almost done being filmed and will be released this year, and trailers and pictures are already surfacing.

Any more Twilight fans out there that want to come out and play? :p

i still haven't seen the first movie, though i've read the books. i made a thread about the movie on here, and from what i gathered, the movie wasn't really worth watching

I finally saw the movie, long, long after reading the books, and I thought it was actually pretty good. I didn't really care for the actress they chose for Bella at first, but she grew on me. They did a really, really great job with Jacob and with the relationship between Billy Black and Charlie Swan. I don't know what the next movie will be like based on the changes that happened since then, but that all bodes really well, since the Quileute are so much more important in New Moon....

Exactly. I thought the movie was good, though not great, but "New Moon" will probably be better since it has a bigger budget and they're more sure of the fan base being excited about it. The official trailer and poster look great. I try to keep up with stuff like that, and I even saw a few HQ pictures recently, so I'll share them here in case anyone is interested.

I did think the original director was really talented. It will be interesting to see what the director change does to the series.

On the other hand, New Moon is kind of the depressing segment of the series. :p Maybe it can be like Empire Strikes Back and still be the best one, though!

i'll probably still end up seeing, since my wife acts like she wants to. we'll see

I have some female friends who are obsessed, so I finally read the books. They aren't as horrid as I expected, taking into consideration the target audience of tween girls. Nowhere near as polished and fleshed out as the Harry Potter books, which aren't pandering and condescending like many young adult novels. I thought the romance angle was a bit over the top, most times sounding like a ten-year-old's vision of what teenage love will be like. I really enjoyed the vampire and werewolf lore, I thought there were some very interesting takes on vampiric abilities and ancestry. I wasn't impressed with the movie, I found the portrayals of the characters dull and uninteresting. I've seen some of the actors in other films, and they do have some talent, they just didn't get to show it in this film. All-in-all, I'm not exactly a fan, but I'm not a hater, I'll be seeing New Moon when it comes out.

I am in love with the series. I have read it many more times than one should consider strictly "normal."

However, I'm not a fan of the movies. Everything was mostly OK except for Kristen Stewart. She was utterly horrible. Hopefully she can pull it together a little more for New Moon, though.
