20"/256MB/2GB.

I am typing this on a B&W G3 with 384MB RAM.

Words cannot convey my excitement.

Estimated Delivery Date: March 7th.

Words cannot convey my depression.

Shipped; new Estimated Delivery Date: March 2nd.

Words cannot convey my enthusiasm. Apparently I only bought 1GB RAM, though, which puzzles me because I thought I bought 2. Oh well, saved me money. 1GB should be fine for right now.

Hi,

I got a 20" Imac Core duo from the Apple Store last week, only went in there for a case for my Ipod. . Its my first Mac as well. Any way they offered to upgrade me to 1gig of ram for extra and also recomended the .Mac (still dont know what its for). When I plugged it in I fell in love with it (Never thought i would say that about a Mac, been a IT Analyst in windows for 10 Years) . All was great for a few hours until I realised I could of got a graphics memory upgrade for a bit more, I am a bit dissapointed now, not enjoying it as much as I should be now because thats playing on my mind., Does anyone know if this lack of VRAM will cause much difference, how many more people have stuck with only 128. I want to try my hand at a bit of video editing, only home movies, holidays, etc onto DVD never done any before.
I love Mac OS, infact I am thinking about going back to get a Mac laptop as well in the next few months.

P.s in years to come, do you think that I could replace the system board with one with 256 card.

Cheers

Ste

No. However, don't worry about having less VRAM. It wouldn't be a huge difference. For what you describe, you might not notice anything! On my 17-inch I had to get 128, but I'm using a cinema display too, so I have 128 driving 2 displays, and I still do anything I want. Works perfect.

I obsess over all sorts of things with Apple and my Macs, but I don't let VRAM bother me.

I bought a Apple i Mac intel core duo on February 20th and configured the system with the best parts that Apple had to offer, can’t get any better then this.
ATI Radeon X1600/256MB VRAM
*2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
*500GB Serial ATA drive
*SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD+RW/CD-RW)
i Work ’06 pre installed
Wireless Keyboard & Mouse + Mac OS X - U.S. English
L2 Cache 2 MB
Bus Speed 667 MHz

I love everything about this computer. I'm a very happy camper :)

So they day came and in came the Mac.

So comes tomorrow and out goes the Mac.

Only grief is that when the system turned the display off for the first time, it came back looking all corrupted with horizontal and vertical lines and flickering and "ghost images" of previous windows. I immediately booted the thing, switched it off, took the power cord off yada yada... Nada. Still looked awful.

I called up Apple and they said only thing I could do was to do the PSU reset thing which I had already done by pulling off the power cable for several minutes so they declared the machine was DOA and promised to get me a replacement ASAP. During the phone call the artefacts slowly disappeared and the display started looking fairly ok but everytime I wake the system (when it has just turned the screen off) the flickering returns for several minutes. It's doesn't really affect when waking the system from sleep but...

Well, anyway, waiting for a new unit but I already fell in love with my first mac.

Got mine today -- for anyone sitting on the fence, I recommend you hop off and buy one. It's gorgeous. It's also my first experience with the Mighty Mouse. A little odd, but I've managed to grok it already. Hope it's got better build quality than the ones bitched about on Apple's website. Everything is perfect.

Well I'm guessing I'm getting a new one since there probably aren't any refurbished ones in the country yet, first ones arrived just last week. Either way, as long as it works perfectly, I'm one happy switcher.

I just got my iMac (my first mac ever) a few days ago.

It is, in a word, 'stunning' =)

I don't know how to put it in words, but everything is so 'fluid' on it... everything works so smoothly.

The only thing is that i've been having a problem where certain keyboards buttons (volume and eject) or the entire keyboard stops responding after periods of inactivity, or after returning from sleep. The only solution is to unplug and plug it back in. I did a forum and web search and found lots of other users with this problem. I hope it gets fixed in a software update soon (most people think it is a USB software problem).

Wow, that really sucks. I hope Apple makes it right.

And they will, got a call today from the servicing company the mac was sent to and I'm getting a new one as a replacement. The old one is probably going back to get refurbished, it apparently had a fault in the display adapter.

It was apparently a clear fault judging from the nature of the call, which is nice because I don't want to fight against servicing departments with "ghost" faults (like I'm currently doing with my iPod).

Just bought my first Mac. Est arrival: 8 March.

(!!!) :)

I ordered my iMac on 2/25 @ 10:30pm... it was delivered and on my desk in use by 2/28 @ 2:00pm!!!

Besides the awesome service, I couldn't be happier with it. I'm using it for graduate school, it's my home entertainment system, and I'm going to run a business with it. Whenever I discover new features I keep smiling and thinking, "they thought of that too?!" :) :) :)

Apple sent me a replacement mighty mouse because of a problem with my iMac... I had one that said assembled in China on the bottom, and it worked great. They sent me a replacement that said assembled in malaysia and that one makes the ugliest/loudest chomp sound instead of a quiet click when you press it!
