Mine arrived today - ordered Friday, so pretty amazing for CTO.

I can't get over how fast the thing is! The display is just gorgeous. Can't see any dead/stuck pixels.

My iMac should finally ship today... but still nothing happend :( I really hope that it will ship today, bacause I have waited 4 weeks!

Could my order ship this evening or night? time here in Finland is now 15:40...

Hope your Mac starts its' journey soon. I read from one of the Finnish Mac-forums that Scandinavia is a low priority zone for Apple so all we can do is hope for the best.

I ordered this morning around 9:30am and I got the notification that it was shipped tonight! Original estimate arrival was the 28th and now its the 22nd.

While the sooner I get it, the better, I hope this doesn't mean I got a returned model or refurb. I ordered a 17" with 1x1GB of RAM and 250GB hard drive, and the rest was stock. Anyone think this might be a refurb model or returned? I definitly don't want to have any problems with this, my first Mac.

Oh, and I'm in the US, if that makes any difference.

no, apple does not do that. if you order a new machine, a new machine you shall receive.

I would think so. But what's all this talk from people here freakin out thinking they might get a returned model with dead pixels and such?

Still nothing happend :( I called to Apple Store and they claims that my iMac will ship soon...

I went and picked up a 20'' at our local reseller today. It's not for me though, it's for the rest of the family. They needed a new computer and I convinced them to get the iMac. They are the most amazingly designed machines. Atm it's only running with 512 MB RAM, so when things are running under Rosetta it's pretty abysmal. Will get another 1 GB soon which should speed things up a fair bit.

Hope so. If your Mac ships during this week, you'll most likely get yours before I do (I ordered mine from www.officeline.fi) but let's see... A little "competition" makes the waiting more easy, eh? ;)

It's illegal to sell a returned product as a new product. Why do you think apple has a seperate section to buy refurbished products? I don't think apple wants to have something like that glooming over their name.

I recieved my imac 20 inch 1 gb ram 256 video 500 gb hdd yesterday 2 weeks ahead of when it was estimated to be delivered. I'm upgrading from a powerbook 1.25 g4 1 gb ram 80 gb hdd. This imac is freaking amazing!! The screan is sooooo much brighter than my powerbooks which I figured it would be. No dead pixels. I did notice scratches around the ports in back, I'm guessing from their testing. Out of sight out of mind though. Fed ex had definately dropped it a few times, as the corners on the box were smashed in. That really pissed me off, but it all works. You would think apple would be smart enough to put " Handle with care " or " Fragel " or " Don't drop this, there is a freaking computer inside " but there are no such markings. Fed ex didnt even think it would be delivered until the 17th. Anyways, I got it way ahead of time ( must have been thrown from one truck to another ) and overall I couldnt be much happier! If your thinking about buying one just do it damnit, this is one hell of a computer!!!!!!!

Well I took the plunge and ordered my first mac: 20" iMac, Intel core duo, upgraded to 1gb ram and 256mb graphics.

I'm a university student (studying computer science) and have been using PC's since I was 6 or 7! One week at school I had to go talk to several professors in my faculty, and 5 out of 6 of them all had iMacs! No PCs! I found this very surprising!

Anyways, I have an HP notebook for taking to school, and this new iMac for home. I hope this won't cause too much difficulty transfering files (like word documents) via USB-drive between the two computers.

I hope my first Mac doesn't let me down, and that is runs everything I need it to for school! I ordered on Feb 13 and it said expected ship is Feb 23rd, plus 8-12 business days for delivery... It ended up shipping out today (Feb 17) via "Sameday Right-O-Way..." hopefully I will get it early next week (here on the east coast of Canada)!

I use both PC and Mac, and I use a flash drive to transfer files back and forth without a problem. Just make sure you get a version of MS Office for MacOS. If your a computer science major altho, you'll probably be using your HP notebook alot more than your new iMac. You'll be compiling alot of programs for PC.

Well we do a lot of Java now, using Eclipse, which I'm pretty sure runs on Mac OS X.

Their website says it supports "Apple Mac OS X 10.3+, PowerPC architecture, Carbon windowing system, with Java 2 Standard Edition 1.4.2 for Mac OS X"... I'm assuming Rosetta will handle this (?)

I ordered mine on 14 February, with 500Gb HDD 256mb VRAM and 512mb of RAM (I'll add 1gb stick by myself) and the extimate shipping date is on 28 February..

:(

Sorry for going a bit off topic but when you say the rest is stock dose that mean that the 2 one gig rams are not made by Apple ?

They said the 256 *video memory* wasn't stock because the stock configuration is 128. I.e. their hard drive is still the base 250 GB. Their video memory is an upgraded solution provided by Apple, not stock.

The 2 one gig ram was not mentioned. That is regular memory, different from video memory.

It took only 3 days from when I submitted my order for it to be shipped and get within a 45 minute drive. And yet, FedEx still says it's scheduled to be delivered 3 days from today. I'd go over there and pick it up from them right now if I could, but I have to wait 3 days for them to get it here? Makes no sense. It says it's out on delivery, so you think it would be here today. Gaaaahhh.... the wait is so much worse when it's so close.

Mine shipped on the 14th. It arrived in PA this morning at 6am. It is only an hour away but I have to wait till Tuesday to get it. Like Tom Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part!"

Mine shipped on the 14th as well, but it took til the 16th to leave Sacramento at 2 AM. Since then I have not seen a shipping update in the fedex tracking.

When is your estimated delivery? Mine is Tuesday the 21st. Which of course is too far away.

Mine shipped on the 15th, and is scheduled to get here the 21st. Definitly way too far away ;)

I'm starting to get worried now, my iMac shipping still hasn't been updated since Feb. 16th at 2 AM. >.< Think it might be lost? It left Sacramento then, never really showed up anywhere.

Does anyone know if the FedEx scheduled delivery date is set in stone? Or is there a chance it could come earlier? I ask because it's been within a 45min drive since 5am on the 18th, but it's still scheduled to be delivered on the 21st.... and I'm anxious!!!!

My iBook came a day earlier then what the FedEx website said. I was surprised at 8:30 in the morning when there was a door bell ring because I was expecting it till the next day.
