Official Safari 3 Beta Issues for Mac + PC
Greetings, folks.
New MBP here (2.4gh - 2gb mem - 7200 gb hd) - AND new to Mac stuff (June 07!). I am involved in my business with extended Win based networks... But I felt it was time to try out the Mac world, especially for vaunted a/v capabilities (I have a B&B Inn and frequently need updated printed as well as DVD based promo material). Mmmmm!
I did download/install Mac 10.4.10 and then Safari Beta 3. But, I keep feeling that Safari 3 is not very satisfactory in terms of hanging frequently and such. I do not recall Safari 2 differences in performance since I upgraded to S3 soon after making my purchase!
I do see that (many questions about this in MacRumors!) that the Safari 3 dmg file INCLUDES an uninstaller. Good. I am about to revert to S2 via uninstallation of S3... But I simply cannot believe that any computer company would indeed release such an incomplete Beta as S3 -
if this is the case . Granted, Betas are Betas, blah blah blah. But Betas, from my own experience (granted, mostly in the supposedly dreaded Win world) indicates that such POSSIBLE misbehavior as exhibited by S3 Beta (and I say it again, I CANNOT yet believe that this upgrade is as defective as indicated in McRumors forums!) is indeed... POSSIBLE!
So, I'll keep reading about S3 and its shortcomings, and expect some remedy... short of reverting to S2! I am not interested in yet switching to other browsers - after sinking 3k$ + into this machine. Gotta make the allegedly reputable Apple stock stuff work first!
To sum it all up: my two main issues - see attached illustrations.
1. The lingering loading of
www.GoToMyPc.com is not just affecting this website, but affects many others. Loading attempt stops right past http://
2. Pending issues regarding bringing up certain online video items. See the attached 2 "ClipError" files (from BBC site, and from another site I frequent a lot about Xmas light animations-the video clip on this page should show an animated US flag light display). I have since installed - as recommended - Flip4Mac. Seems to have improved things a bit. Obvious question: are there
REALLY Mac unfriendly/Win only websites??? That would be amazing!
Any advice will be appreciated! Sorry, a lot of stuff here: I do prefer to adequately document my rants, in case I have already overlooked obvious remedies.
