I was replying to a post about Sonic; I didn't imply there that I wanted another character in his stead. They're just as bad!
EDIT: My question was misphrased there, I was asking why you thought the dislike of Sonic wouldn't extend to the other characters. I don't see how not wanting Sonic can equate directly to wanting Shadow.

Shadow would translate better to a fighter because he has a weapon (for range fighting) on top of his hedgehog abilities (for melee fighting). You just don't like any of the sonic characters, admit it.
Mr. Game & Watch worked well in Melee, and he was only 2D, so there's no reason to not have a 2D Paper Mario.
I still really want to see some Pikmin stuff in the game! What about a character, unlike all others... a swarm of a few hundred tiny Pikmin! That would be so cool.
You know what might be interesting is a Mario Galaxy stage, complete with some of the physics.
Imagine the crazy combos you could unleash by knocking an opponent sky high only to have them get caught by the gravity of a planet that sends them into an orbit around it and possibly back to you for more damage.

I think Rumble Falls will be pretty good even though i hate that Ice Climbers level. According to the description, this new one only moves up slowly, while the ice climbers level moves up and down quite fast.

Agreed scrolling stages aren't that great, this one has a ladder... what's the point when you can double jump anywhere.
They've introduced a new gameplay element. Jumping on eachother's head. That's pretty big IMO. I hope it doesn't change the game mechanics too much.
I hope DK and Bowser get an overhaul. They're under represented in their smash form. Too slow, Bowser unerstandable, but DK is a eff'n gorilla/monkey, whatever simian, he should be super agile.

So how many main characters are from Fire Emblem? I've never played that game. I only know Roy and Marth from Melee. Where does Ike come into the picture? It will be interesting to see how this character will play. So this is the first new, new character. I can't wait to see some more.

I think Ike is the main character from the GameCube Fire Emblem game.
That one is the only Fire Emblem game I've played, but it would be my guess that each one has a different set of characters in different settings, like Final Fantasy and Tales games.
