You can download it (free using the redemption code) then just delete it, but later down the road, if you want to redownload it, it'll still be free in your Purchased list, so you don't need to keep it on the iPhone if you don't want to.

Agreed! I love Tris and I still play it to this day. Too bad it's stuck in iPhone 3Gs form.
That's how promotions work. When a local restaurant or store is offering free downloads or tickets for something, you still have to show up and find it. Similarly, if you want a promotion from the Apple Store App, you have to open the app and find it. They want you to see what they have and hopefully entice you to buy something.
the idea behind this is not to simply give away another app.
they want people to USE the App Store app. they can't make it where you have to buy to get it free. so this is doing something to get something.
and really the whole thing, including downloading the ebook took me maybe 2 minutes, and that was while helping a 4 year old or maybe it was the 1 year old.

Don't download this piece of junk, even for free, this is NOT Tetris, but some strange remake where they use Tetris elements to make a completely different game.
Basically the app tells you all the places where the Tetris piece can fit, and you have to tap on the one that you want. That's it. There is no "game". It's like playing Tomb Raider and the game asking you how you want to end the game. You choose from 3 endings then the whole game plays itself to that ending. Ta dah. An app that makes playing so easy you are no longer needed for it!

You are describing "One-Touch" mode which is indeed quite simple and not very compelling IMO.
However...try "Marathon" mode. It's classic Tetris gameplay with touch controls (slide to move piece, tap to rotate, swipe down to drop it). That's the one you probably want
There's also "Galaxy" which is a kinda funky puzzle mode that also uses the one-touch controls.
Yup. Another yip yip for the original Tris. It's the oldest app on my phone, and I just played it a few days ago. I'll never delete it

Really this piece of junk has nothing to do with the original Tetris, it's obsolete but at the same time it lost everything made the original title worth gaming and fun!
To be honest I like much more some recente clones, like Twinflix 2, where you can at least play multiplayer with some fast paced action.

I like it it's not bad at all, I repeat: for me best thing in such game is fast pace action, now look at this crap thing from EA and tell me where's the "fast" it is as boring as watching the white plastic bag in the wind like in American Beauty!!!

Multiplayer
The multiplayer is simple, the screen is horizontally split in two parts, you play on the left part and the opponent on the right, each row you break instead of going away it goes to him, to make his game harder, an viceversa, it's funny because it's fast.
You can either play against the CPU or against an other human, unfortunately it's using GameCenter so you need to wait every time for the system to get a real human available! and most of the time they come from Japan... so it could be some lag. but definitely: it's funny!

Thank you mates, I just tried it, it is absolutely great, unfortunately I could only play with japanese guys online (it shows from where they are from, town and country, it's a sort of tetris olympic games!) so I couldn't understand too much what the guy was swearing to me when I defeated him! definitely great, there are some action videos on youtube as well

I have tried Twinflix 2 too, I have to say is the best tetris game so far, mostly due for the online features and some new concept on the VS game that make the game more addictive and innovative.
This is ****. I deleted. Nothing like the original or I'm playing it wrong. Shape stayed at top of screen. Touch touch. Some ghosts shapes appear at bottom. Touch and shape goes down. Its ****. No panic or excitement like the original. Am I alone in this or what?
I downloaded it on to my phone and the on my ipad I went to the App Store, selected iphone only games and downloaded it on to my ipad
