Official www.jailbreakme.com from Comex

Hello, I just bought a used 3Gs. Found iOS 4.0.1, restore and update my phone to that. Went onto jailbreakme.com and now im getting "oops file received was invalid". How can I fix this?

try restoring with a 4.0.1 firmware file by doing the shift (windows) or option (mac) and selecting the file you downloaded from wherever [just google it]

make sure you don't just hit restore, or else it will download the one from apple (4.0.2) and you won't be able to jailbreak

Thats exactly how I got 4.0.1. Looked under settings -> about and my version is definitely 4.0.1.

I even tried this, posted a couple pages back.

1) Put your device into Airplane mode.
2) Go to -> Setting -> safari -> Cookies -> Accept.
3) Double Tap home button.
4) Press and hold an icon to wiggle the task switcher icons and then quit Safari using the X.
5) Clear all Cache and cookies.
6) Open safari and go to jailbreakme.com and try again.

hey , very new to this forums. i lurk from time to time. but i actually felt like since i got help from other forum internet users, i would pitch in and help someone out...

spoonk7, i was getting the same error.

then it occured to me.
the iphone was plugged in, and on in itunes at the moment.
if you have it plugged in or in itunes. you're going to get that error everytime.

unplug it, and your golden.

Edit: I finally got it work! And it was plugged in!

Will this work with any 3gs os version? I think I have a second phone on 3.1.3 still, would like to JB.

Also, is there a way to JB an iphone 2g that does not have an active sim or contract in it?

It's downloading on my 2/3G iPod Touch now.
(Most of the reason I'm jailbreaking is because I was mad when I found out that the 8GB version was really 2008's model. >< Steve, how could you.)
