Woke up this morning to -18 F temp with a Real Feel of -32 F. This is the 2nd day in a row that my son has had a snow day.

Hope the weather is warmer where you are.:D

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
And you almost crashed into a light pole,
And you've got places to go,
**** the snow, **** the snow, **** the snow!

It's been (relatively) cold around these parts. I've been heading to the train station in the low 30F. Seems that Sat night it will hit a low of ~27F. Naturally that pales in comparison to our northern and mountain friends here, but man I now fully appreciated just how drafty my apartment is.:(

I'm sorry...Californians are not permitted to post on this thread.

Aside from summers in San Francisco (the coldest winters he ever experienced, according to Mark Twain), you do not have weather to speak of. :p

When someone opens an earthquake thread...you can post.

Having grown up in a far colder climate, I had an odd sense of dissociation while writing my above post. Surely I'm not complaining about 30F weather!?

;)

Significant snow storms have gone north of us and south. But we're bound to be in the bull's eye sooner or later. (or as some say, sooner than later) We haven't had enough at once to get the plows or snowblowers out yet.

Woke up to 3 F this morning and NO snow in WI. :S

I don't mind it being cold if we can at least get a little snow to make it somewhat scenic and "fun". Bright, cold, dry, and windy. :S

I have to agree and disagree with this.

First, I'm currently living in California, so I've broken this rule anyway! And it was below freezing last night. Produce growers didn't like it:

NorCal got hit with a good coldsnap. If you were only referring to SoCal, then I would agree wholeheartedly. But keep in mind that the Bay area as well as Sacramento is only about 100 miles from Donner Summit/high Sierras/Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley, which hosted the Winter Olympics. So it does get cold here.

But on the other hand, I'm originally from Nebraska, and I've seen worse than the weather here in Sacramento. I can only tell Dallas and the deep south to "welcome to the Midwest's world!"

I'm still waiting for people up here to see what we had to go through and have to shovel their way out of their driveway. Then they'll see how much fun snow really is!

BL.

Meanwhile, flooding over here.

Last night's spring tide was apparently the highest on record, and parts of Hull city centre got soggy...

Screen Shot 2013-12-06 at 9.09.06 pm.png

The tidal barrier was closed which prevented a surge up the river Hull that would have affected thousands of homes and businesses, although the tide was a matter of inches off the top of the barrier at its peak.

However, along the banks of the Humber the water made its way though. The ice arena is going to be shut for a while, so please spare a thought for the local ice hockey team and its dozen or so fans.

I have the windows open and am considering turning on the A/C because it's just a smidge too warm in the house. It's 74˚*outside. Lovely!

OK, I spent a winter in Milpitas (suburb of San Jose) and we were a hour from skiing in the mountains and an hour from the beach. We went to the beach in Santa Cruz in February! Even though you are 100 miles from Donner Summit and Lake Tahoe, I-80 rises about 7000 feet in that 100 miles!

Is that cold enough, if you pee outside the stream will instantly freeze in mid air? Please try and report back.

I'd rather have it be freezing right now instead of snowy. I'll put off my commute in the snow as long as possible.
