Got this very cool stand as a review unit. It can be yours for $27.99 on Amazon. In the first two pictures, you see what comes in the box. Inside the stand are adaptors for the Apple Watch and iPhone. Charge adaptor for Fitbit is also included.

This is a pretty clever stand, and one that I will be using when I travel, as well as at home. As you can see from the right-most photo above, there is a cavity in the stand, where your cords can be stored when traveling.

Above you see how the watch charger (not included), is fed through the top and rests in the adaptor. The cord winds around and fits neatly into the stands cavity. Your other USB devices (iPhone, iPad, Airpods), plug into the bottom, where there are three USB ports. Power comes from the included cord, which goes opposite the USB ports.

Your watch is held in nightstand mode, so you'll always be able to see it.

There are little rubber feet on the bottom to make sure it stays where you put it.

It even comes in three colors, so you can get one to match your Apple watch's flavor.

You can view this and their other products directly on their site: http://oittm.com.

What is the watch resting on during charging? Is it just the plastic, or is there some soft material on it?

It's just the plastic. Nothing that could scratch.
