Seems fine except 1 little issue with toast, It won't burn my disc! Mac OS error code 13780 :(

There's nothing on Roxio's site as of yet, but hopefully there will be a compatibility statement soon. When I get my copy of Leopard I'm going to clean install, so I'll give Toast (I have version 7) a go and see whether it works here.

Nothing a little .1 fix can provide

Plus anything that I might have stated throughout the evening as an "issue" might very well have been exacerbated by alcohol consumption. Hopefully the devs around the world get a good night sleep and start pumping put patches/updates throughout the weekend

I won't be getting Leopard until they fix all the problems, and remove the Wikipedia support from Dictionary 2.0

Me and around 20 other people have already reported this to Apples OS feedback.

Screw them for now!

If they don't improve things shortly, I'll be "switching"

I'm running version 7 too, I just did an upgrade, but thats becuase i'm impatient and just wanted to look at leopard. will do a clean install soon.

I might skip Leopard altogether.

I like all my working apps in 10.4, plus I still don't know if the 3-D dock can be turned off, and that is the clincher for me.

Terminal to the rescue:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

killall Dock

But I think I can get used to the new reflective floor look... maybe......

Installed Leopard with zero problems (fresh install). In my opinion, it runs better than Tiger (in my C2D Macbook Pro).

Sarcasm I hope?

Honestly, that was not sarcasm.

Wait, what? Remove wikipedia functionality?? You don't have to use it you know!

You're going to wait until they fix all the problems, and if they don't soon you're going to switch? To what? Vista? Yeah, good luck with a lack of problems there.
linux is not perfect, windows is not perfect, os x is not perfect, (but imho the closest of the bunch). the perfect OS does not exist.

I know they are not perfect.

What I mean is, I will be staying with Tiger (until there is an alternative)

I have never used linux, and haven't used Windows in a long time. However I think its time to give it a try.

I haven't been this immediately satisfied with an OS update since 10.1!

10.2: Some service was causing a conflict rendering copy/paste unusable.
10.3: It took me a while to warm up to the Finder sidebar and Exposé.
10.4: I was disappointed with the overall look and feel.

So far Leopard has been one cool cat. :p :D

Care to elaborate?

And you can switch this off in Dictionary's Preferences window.

(It's funny you should mention this, because the updated Dictionary is one of the features I was most looking forward to in Leopard.)

Really, it's not. This is about the worst time possible to try windows. Instead of building upon a relatively[1] solid OS (xp), they put out vista. XP was bad, really bad, so bad I gave all my games away and switched to linux. vista is worse.

[1]that's an important word there

I recently discovered that option.

The updated dictionary was also one of the key things for me in Leopard.

Mostly because of Shogakukan being added.

I was very disappointed with Tigers "language translator" it was really only "trial" software from systran.

It looks like a can "hide" that horrible option in the dictionary. Thanks to your input. It's the little things that matter to people, that count.

what kind of install

Lots of talk on here and elsewhere about difficult Leopard installs...
Slowing down of the system...
Sluggish Expose/Stacks...

I say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Anyone else staying with 10.4 for a while?
:apple:

What kind of install did you do because that is just not my experience with my MBP or my iMac.

Does stacks really suck compared to rightclicking or holdclicking a folder/harddrive/etc from the dock. I see this as a huge opportunity for 3rd party devs, to write something that will allow you to turn off the apps/files/etc that appear in a stack, and to give you a delete all option for the downloads stack. Personally I like Todos for my Applications b/c I can turn off the Apps I don't want to see there.

Stacks is the worst feature "upgrade" I've ever seen on Mac OS X and I've been using it since DP3. Apple better re-add the superior hierarchical menu option in 10.5.1. I hope everyone who agrees with me is submitting this in the Mac OS X feedback.

Everything else on my two Leopard installs is working great though and web browsing is unbelievably fast. My 1.42GHz G4 mini is now faster than my MacBook was on Safari 3 on 10.4!
