Update from Princeton WV.....

I GOT MY PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided on a white 32 gig. The black still shows all the fingerprints. I was the ONLY ONE there till 7:15! Then one more customer came. I was told they only got 8 phones. So even though I was there at 4am, I feel very lucky and happy. I got what I wanted and now I can say I was first!!!!

And....it's about twice as fast as the 3g. Worth the wait and money to upgrade!!!!!

Would it really be that difficult to get one at a normal hour on launch day?

And what's with this correlation between getting an iPhone 3GS and McDonald's breakfasts? No one cooks at home anymore? :p

*Hugs my iPhone 2G*

Anyways, I'm going to work.

It all depends on where you go. I would say Apple would be best bet to get one at lunch time. AT&T might still have them in a small town

I'm doing at upgrade swap, so I have to go AT&T store..a bummer for sure, but it's 200 cheaper, so I'll survive(even if I have to wait a few days)

Although it's 20 til 7, and only about 10 pre-order people are here...so I'm hoping I'll be hooked before 9(I've heard AT&T will help no pre-order before normal hours is all the pre order people are filled

Let hope!!

wait ... You can't goto the apple store because it's an upgrade?

I'm upgrading from the 2G to the 3Gs ... Are you saying I have to go to AT&T and not the Apple Store for that ?

First one is 8am.

Next is about 8.30am.

About 15 mins after opening.

This was the O2 store in Telford.

At the Fort Collins, CO AT&T store. They are very organized. Two seperate lines. One for preorder and a normal line

Preorder line has two people in line. The normal line has about 15 or so. I got here at 5 and was tenth in line

Hoping they have enough.

Just picked mine up from a ATT retail store in Manhattan, NYC, there were max 15 people in line, most were pre-orders. Store opened at 7, I was out the door by 7:20 with my new iphone

why wait

I don't get why all you preorders decided to wait in lines for the 3GS..

I pre-ordered, but I plan on avoiding the lines and going in later today to pick mine up. The at&t store is slow enough during standard operating hours, I can't imagine waiting on a whole horde of people.

I got my phone.. no pre-order.. was out the door at 7:20

Way to go ATT!!!

Time for bed...

I'm upgrading from the 2G to the 3Gs ... Are you saying I have to go to AT&T and not the Apple Store for that ?

Just did a upgrade swap at AT&T. They knew exacty what I was trying to do as soon as I mentioned upgrade swap without having to explain. They said this COULD be done at apple stores, the only trouble you would have is if they were not familiar with the term. Well, omw for some mcD breakfast. ;)

On a normal work day I leave my house at 6am and get to work around 6:30, eat breakfast and start work by 7. I have my phone on pre-order (North Point Mall, Alpharetta, Georgia) and they called me last night to confirm so I'll wait till around 10am to pick it up. I'm guessing that at 10 it's too early for the lunchers and the early birds will already be done and gone. When I was on line 2 years ago for the G2 I was one of the first in line, an hour before the store was taking us. The line went very fast so I'm trying it this way this time. I will miss the fun I had with other Mac people waiting, but not enough to do it again. It's already 9 so an hour to go.

Well, I guess waiting paid off. I just met Woz and I had my picture taken with him. He signed my old phone and signed my new box. VERY friendly guy.

Woot! :apple:

Back with my 32GB white 3G S!

I was forth in line because I had reserved my iPhone. Those who reserved got in much quicker than those who didn't reserve. Also, there were more staff there to assist those who reserved than those who didn't.

I was in and out of the store in 15 minutes. The line was getting seriously long when I left, at least 100+ people in the reserved line.

Huntsville Apple Store

Got mine this morning with about 30 folks in line ahead of me. 15 Reservations, about 15 non reserved.

There were about 50 or so people in the reserve line and only about 20 without.

Took about 1 hour from store open to get in the store. Activation took about 2 minutes with about 5-10 spend on purchase (I bought 2).

Super fast and easy. Nothing like 3G launch day, where we spent 6 hours+ in the July heat.

PS - If you reserved you were GUARANTEED a phone that you reserved no questions asked. The store had no 32GB Black phones for non-reserved folks.

Went to ATT store this morning at 7 AM. No one really there. They would not let me purchase as I did not preorder. Told me I had to come back at 10 AM  Just called they sold all the ones they had. Nice

got mine at Apple store located at simthheaven mall, LI NY

Well when I got there the line was about 35 deep on reserve and 22 on the non-reserve... and a lot of people inside !

figure I better hit the bathroom quick before getting in line... coming out of the bathroom I see the AT&T store with about 8-10 people being helped and only 2 people on line. I asked the guy standing by the barracade if they were out and he said nope and we can have you in and out in 10 minutes.. 5 minutes on line, if that and 5 minutes tops in the store. They were only out of the 16gig white which I was going to get BUT hey it will be in a case so I got the 16 gig black and am backing it up now.

PS... it was fully fuctional by the time I walked out of the Mall. Al I had to do after he gave it to me was shut it down for a couple of minutes.

Very nice people and VERY fast.

Pic below is not of the phone I know BUT it was the first pic with my new iPhone 3Gs :D
