I'm at AT&T store in marlton...only about three people in line...I'm asssuming they all preordered, which I didn't, so I'm hanging in the car until I see some official AT&T staff

at the apple store in fort worth texas we've been here since 11 PM

about 100 people here now

Really? Nice.

We got to talk to the store manager for my local store (who is totally, 100%, without a doubt, undeniably homosexual) and what looks to be the asst. store manager who is pretty easy to look at :D

Not saying anything wrong with the store manager. He runs my favorite store (which I drive out of my way to get to) and is a pretty cool guy. I just thought it was kinda ironic (more like what I expected from an Apple Store manager). He was walking his dog at 12:30 AM.

Here is the tale of my woes.....

I would have pre-ordered, but AT&T would not let you upgrade until your year has come up and mine would not have been till July 11th. So now I'm stuck waiting in line for a phone. I did it last year at the Apple Store in Short Hills NJ. It was a great time! So many people, and we all had a great time. That day I didn't get my phone till around 1pm. I was there at 6am.

So, this week I'm traveling in West Virginia, No Apple store for miles and miles. So I called the closest AT&T store in Princeton WV. Was told to get here early. So here I am, at 4:30 am. Not a soul in sight. I guess I'm first in line. Hope they don't run out.

I think AT&T really screwed this up for customers who bought last year and wanted to upgrade today. Then last minute they changed their minds and said we can upgrade. I can't wait till Apple goes to Verizon. I'll be the first to switch back!

Anyway, time to watch the stars here in Princeton WV! Almost Heaven....

Ivey League Princeton? You would think rich college kids would be all over it.

Wot?

I did Short Hills last year. Went to AT&T first in Hoboken, and very quickly no luck. Hopped in my car and debated between Paramus and Short Hills, going on gut with the latter.

Arrived a bit past 9:30 and found the Apple Store. I was about 9th in line. (I remember actually counting I was so happy knowing the in store authorization was going to be rough. It was.) They came out and took our size options down. I was out in 30 minutes.

When I left there were about 50 people in line. But no way was there a line that early.

Maybe if you are talking about year 1 for 2g. Not the 3g. And this year I expect with preorders and contract timing to walk in and walk out. My only question is where. If you were at Short Hills that early you must have been pretty lonely with just a few folks.

For the third year in a row I will try AT&T. But don't expect any good news. First year they had only 4GB when I got up front and I bolted.

It's 32GB or bust baby! :p

Palm beach Florida, about 7 people at the AT&T store. First guy here around 3, net guy around 4. I'm here around 5 and was 3rd person in line but went to the apple store to see the line. Had one on hold there but wasn't anyone over there so I came back.

Hey !!!!
My grandmother live 15 minutes away in Athens !!!
Small world... Wish I was there getting my iPhone this morning. Enjoy the sunrise in the blueridge mountains !

Just tried to go down to the Domain store in Austin. Security isn't allowing anyone in the Domain until 6, when they'll start a line. That is going to be interesting. Now I have to kill an hour.

cuz...

Why would anyone wait hours in line so early in the morning when they could've ordered online with FREE SHIPPING and had it the same day?

They had a 3g and didn't know they could upgrade at the good price until 2 days ago. I just sold my 16gb yesterday. Guy was pleased as it was pristine.

Go with the hard leather case! Nary a scratch two years running.

I'm confused what time the apple store are going to be open. The place I'm going said over the phone that they will open at 6am but in the apple.com website of the store it says at 7am. Which one is correct?

Well I'm in line at the apple store at Aspen grove Littleton and there are maybe 15 people in line now. The store us lit up with employees about organizing things getting ready to open inthree hours.

I hope it's not too crowded like last year! I can't leave work until 8 and then I'm heading to that store. Please report back so I can know what to expect when I get there!

You are pretty brave. Between the limited folks getting their preorders that AT&T confirmed via email, I wouldn't be too comfortable waiting at AT&T.

Between that and the history of limited inventory on day 1 with AT&T, there's no way I'd be waiting early there. Good luck.

I will be ringing the local one though at 7:00. I'm skeptical they will have many if any available here as usual.

And I won't even get in line late like last year and then they came out and

Here's my girl guarding my spot when I go take a leak

oh, I'm a bit nervous, but so far only 3 people in line...with 55 mins to go...also I'm eagerly wait for AT&T staff to come tell non pre-order people where to go...i'm hoping!!(there's an apple store real close, so I'm bet that takes some traffic away from this AT&T store)

The rain storm did a good job of keeping people away from the stores in Massachusetts--good for me!

Sitting in car waiting...
Steve

I should have asked how many people he had turned away that night. I wonder if telling everyone to come back at 6 is going to make it a madhouse. Didn't see what was wrong with everyone peacefully lining up outside the store. Oh well.

I believe the 6AM rule is for the entire Domain. I actually just spoke to an Apple employee who came through my place of work. He told me the stores are opening at 7AM for those that reserved the phone and then at 8AM for everyone else. Looks like I will be lumped in with everyone else!
