One of the main reasons i opted for the 8 instead the X is screen burn in! I have searched a couple of pages back and haven’t found a thread about this issue so forgive me if it has been discussed a lot before...

Come September i want to try an OLED model and i was wondering if anyone with an X that bought it as soon as it came out (almost a year ago) discovered burn in issues with his display.

Thanks

Burn in issues exist but tbh it’s a non issue of any significant matter. I’ve had owned plenty of OLED phones and never had any burn in. Have your screen turn off and just do normal stuff and you’ll be fine.

Very very few. It takes an extreme usage style to create burn in. Someone who drives for uber 10h a day with their screen on max brightness in the sun will most likely develope some burn in eventually. The vast majority of normal users have nothing to fear.

If anything, probably the chances of burn in is way higher for a store display item than one that’s being used normally by an individual.

They all do because of static images on the screen. I owned a lot of Samsung phones and people loved to say the same things about any of them yet I never had any issues. If you went to Best Buy you’ll see their phones have burn in but their showed maybe one of two screens on all the time.

I have had OLED screens for years. For example, my last few phones have been the S7 edge, the S8+, Note 7, Note 8, S9+ and iPhone X. Have never had burn in.

Burn in is no longer an issue and hasn’t been for years on high end Oled panels.

Same I’ve owned the original galaxy note, S4, note 3 and S5. All of which I used extensively and none had burn in.

Never had an issue. I love oled displays. Way better then lcd imo, as long as you don’t leave it on the same screen for an hour+ you should be fine.

I wouldn’t say no longer an issue but more of a low percentage issue similar to how you might have a bad speaker and so forth. It can happen but very less likely then before

Complete non issue, I abuse the hell out of my Samsung Phones when it comes to leaving the same content on the screen for hours at a time. Never had any burn-in whatsoever.

And yet there is the fair amount of people stating otherwise with LG branded Pixel 2XL. They is the fair amount of complaints with the nav buttons area. Also seen plenty of store models at best buy to tell you that it can be done with that use case .

Well the iPhone x is not using a rubbish LG panel, it's using the best oled in the business made by Samsung. I've owned enough Samsung oled phones to know its a non issue. Any oled can burn in but 99 percent of people are not going to have an issue. Samsung would be under fire if it was a serious problem.

I’m curious to see how LG panels will be if the iPhone uses them. It was rumored at one point, that the 6.5 iPhone X might be likely using an LG OLED panel and then eventually when Samsung‘s contract is up, Apple will be using all LG s OLED panels for the 5.8 and 6.5 iPhone X.

It depends really, I have a feeling Google may have skimped on the quality of the panels used in the Pixel XL 2. I don't think Apple will make that same mistake, I would say Apple will be demanding LG's best panels.

I’m thinking if the 6.5 iPhone X does release in the Fall, and if it uses LG panels. I’m sure there will be lots of side-by-side comparisons with a 5.8 versus 6.5 iPhone X. I plan on opting for the 6.5 iPhone X in the fall, so I’m hopeful LG panels as good as Samsung‘s are.

I might not like iOS but Apple make great hardware when it comes to phones so I really think you have nothing to worry about, I'm sure the 6.5" iPhone X will have a great screen.

Google didn’t shift the pixels hence the burn in issues. LG did and the v30 doesn’t have those issues. Google did fix it.

The V30 over at XDA has a thread of burn in complaints and non uniformity like banding/black crush.

Hope they've improved since then.

Apple should avoid LG’s panels. LG couldn’t even put good panels in their own phones.

If the 6.5 X does release, I expect it to have an LG panel. I’m willing to accept that, but the side by side comparisons should be interesting.
