And yet there is the fair amount of people stating otherwise with LG branded Pixel 2XL. They is the fair amount of complaints with the nav buttons area. Also seen plenty of store models at best buy to tell you that it can be done with that use case .
My friend has a Pixel 2XL and she hasn’t had it more than three months and the burn in on her device is ridiculous! That on top of the G7 light bleed (I know it’s LCD but same company) That’s what worries me about LG supplying next years OLED panels.

I think that’s a valid concern, but knowing Apple’s stringent quality standards with their products, I can only imagine meeting with an LG as a supplier, that they are going to want the *best* LG panels that they can manufacture, but we don’t know how many LG panels will actually be supplied for the 6.5 iPhone X Plus alongside with Samsung likely being in the majority. But it should be interesting to see the lottery panel for those who receive their iPhones if it’s LG or Samsung, and there will be plenty of side by side comparisons.

I remember when iphone 4s came out in 2011, my iphone had some minor burn-ins. The top status strip had some mild burn-in due to constantly displaying the time, battery status, carrier info, wifi etc. That was 7 years ago. Over the years, Apple improved on the burn-in issues and now I don't even remember when the last time was when they completely fixed it.

OLED displays are more susceptible to burn-in than LCDs but I expect this year model to be more resistant than last year and next year to this year and so on and eventually in 3 years, or perhaps 1-2, knowing how Apple improves on their products' shortcomings every year and the fact that iphone is their biggest cash cow, burn-in will no longer be an issue if you give it time. All technologies mature with time.

My educated guess as to why Apple started making OLED iphones much much later than Samsung did was due to burn-in and that's why I feel they've been so conservative in doing so. I can say for a fact that OLED displays are eventually coming to macs b/c it is the next undisputed display technology.

Samsung solved the burn in problem years ago. The technology is mature now which is why Apple are happy to move to OLED. The iPhone X and it’s successors should not suffer from burn in.

There are 2 sides to this -

1. Mature technology.
2. Yield percentage.
