Apple would have done the same. Let's at least TRY to be fair.
You told us what? And "But trolls insisted this restriction by Samsung is normal" isn't specific.
My point (and many others yesterday) was that the Olympics have rules...and the rules are pretty clear about what Olympiads CAN and CANNOT do while at the Olympics. Period. Regardless if the rules are enforced or enforced to the harshest punishment.
When a Sponsor sponsors a major event (Olympics, a sporting event, a live concert, etc.) the Sponsors and the event organization agree on what can and cannot be done/used/shown with the Sponsor's competition.
Here are some examples:
1)Pepsi is not going to sponsor a Britney Spears event and allow Britney to walk on stage holding a can of Coca Cola...especially if there are cameras aimed at her and the event is being recorded and/or broadcast.
2)Nike is not going to allow Tiger Woods to walk around the golf courses with Adidas sneakers or golf shirt.
3)Ford Motor Company is not going to sponsor the half time show of the Superbowl and allow Bruno Mars to be dropped in the middle of the field by a Honda automobile.
There are thousands of examples...you see it every day on television and you probably don't even realize it. Check out this clip for a funny example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjB6r-HDDI0
Now...there may be issues with the how this rumor/issue was reported...and/or how Mac Rumors reported/interpreted it...sure...I don't have time to solve that mystery. The Olmpiads are there to not only compete, but to hopefully secure big contracts with advertisers when the Games are done...they should read and understand the rules and respect what it means to be a Sponsor.
Just so you know, it's against this sites rules to call people trolls or fanbois.
I didn't see anyone support Samsung. I saw people support the article as it was written against those whose reading comprehension left a lot to be desired.![]()
You were probably the trumpet for the pro-Samsung crowd in that post. Nice 180 there buddy.
So is the claim that Samsung made that request.
What about all the tech blogs and news outlets who have been "banned for life" from Apple press conferences because they wrote a non-favorable article about Apple?
That's a novel idea. Could you expand on why you think it could be possible for Cook to think that? In all of the countries in the UAE homosexuality is illegal under civil law and more importantly, Sharia law.
Nothing - except for the Swiss article that directly says that "Samsung doesn't want to see competitor devices during the opening ceremony. Anyone who wants to participate in the ceremony will need to hide logos/branding with stickers". The second sentence could be interpreted as a conclusion / solution suggested by the author of the article, but the first sentence clearly states that it is Samsung making the request.
In an email exchange with MacRumors today, an IOC spokesperson was asked about athletes being asked to cover non-Samsung logos on mobile devices. She responded saying the report was "not true":
English is not my first language, but I can understand a phrase simple like this:
It is possible that Samsung requested that logos be covered, but it is not an official IOC request and athletes will not be penalized for using or displaying non-Samsung phones.
For me IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SAMSUNG REQUESTED imply that, well, it's possible that happened ....
And I can see someone defending Samsung here .... not for the first time![]()
LOL what?
"Welcome to the Russian phone system! This call, and everything else you do, may be recorded for... quality assurance..."
If it's you on the photo ..... Wow![]()
"Welcome to the Russian phone system! This call, and everything else you do, may be recorded for... quality assurance..."
Because I pointed out how much wrong information was being posted I was pro-Samsung? How about I actually read and understood the article and pointed out all the wrong information being posted? How about if I was pro-truth? What a novel concept. People posting the truth are trolls. Right.
You were saying Samsung has the right to suppress people using iPhones during the opening ceremonies. Common sense would tell you this would never fly whether or not this was samsungs intention.
I told you guys yesterday. But trolls insisted this restriction by Samsung is normal.
MMmmmmmmm no. Apple would have encouraged athletes to use iPhones but wouldn't have tried to prevent competitors stuff from being seen completely.
Apple would have done the same. Let's at least TRY to be fair.
Because I pointed out how much wrong information was being posted I was pro-Samsung? How about I actually read and understood the article and pointed out all the wrong information being posted? How about if I was pro-truth? What a novel concept. People posting the truth are trolls. Right.
Gizmodo. Yes they bought a stolen phone but they sure did get on Apples naughty list and their still getting punished for it. That was back when Steve was still alive. In order for them to do any reviews they have to wait until public release.
What's abnormal about it? The request is normal, it just isn't coming from the IOC.
C'mon, give me a break Scruff
Because of your entire activity on this forum you are pro-Samsung .... you are quite an active user here, it's difficult to hide
Ps: I didn't speak about trolls ...
----------
I never said that. The IOC makes the rules and anyone who actually read either article would see that.![]()
AppleScruff said:In the NFL players aren't allowed to wear anything with a logo of a non NFL sponsor or they get fined. This is quite common in the sporting world. Of course the only reason it is being discussed is because it is Samsung.
There's no threat, you're making stuff up here. But more Samsung fanboy from you.AppleScruff said:Except that the threat comes from the IOC, not Samsung.
AppleScruff said:I suggest everyone go back and read the first sentence in this article. And then read it again. And then think about it for a minute or two. And then post how they reached the conclusion that Samsung or the IOC said the athletes aren't allowed to use their iPhones during the Olympics and must use a Samsung phone or none at all.
Again, defending Samsung. Obviously the IOC smacked Samsung down because this was a dumb request (If they really did ask).AppleScruff said:Not for using, for openly displaying the logo of a non sponsor.
Hahahaha that's got to hurt for Samsung. Your fault for trying to get it that way anyway.
As I said earlier, I am pro truth. And there has been much distortion of the truth in these two Olympic threads.
It's not the truth if it undermines Apple![]()
