I took the light rail yesterday and I was texting on my iPhone 5 and a guy sitting across from me said "my iPhone turned off... Can I use yours to make a phone call?" He had a 4/4S. I said yes, he made the call and that was it. That's the closest I've come to "OMGORZ CAN I SEE IT!?!1?!?!?!?!1?!"

I've had probably over 4 people a day ask me if they can see it, hold it, feel the weight, etc since the day I got it. They ask when I'm getting a case (lol never :D) and I tell them I'm not going to because I actually take care of it and don't drop it like mad.

Anyone still getting this a lot lately? Even thought the iP5 has been out for over a week? When I take my iPhone out in college just to use it, atleast 3-5 people want to touch it and hold it. Gotten to the point where I have to hide my phone to use it.

Ahh gotta love these people also. The "I dont give a **** about the new iPhone 5, it's just longer.. people" When I take it out, "Can I see it??!?!?!" (Guess people can't stand the beauty of the iPhone 5 =D)

Just a fun rant =)
Feel free to share your experiences also!

I have found over the years since owing the original iPhone, that all the people that bitch and say the phone isnt that great or what ever, are the ones that want it but can't get or afford it. I had a lot of friends back then like that, now only about 2 or 3 dont own a iPhone.

"No." That's my response to people asking to handle it. I didn't let people handle my 4S though either, I guess I don't trust others (or I don't like their cooties).

In LA, every time I've pulled my iP5 out since launch day, people have asked, "Is that the 5?", and not just with me, with everyone else. If it is, there is jealousy, rage, hurt, longing, etc. in their eyes. And since it's LA, this literally happens with everyone. I just hide mine so I don't get the glares and/or stories.

When I got the 1st iPhone I got that NON STOP.

However, with the i5 I haven't got it even once.. probably because it really resembles the i4, etc, unless you really look at it to investigate.

When the original iPhone was out, I was THAT guy. I had only one friend who owned it and I was so fascinated at how it showed webpages the way they looked on computers. I would ALWAYS ask him if I could play with it whenever I saw him. I bet it made him sick, but he was a good sport about it and let me see it every time. I eventually ended up getting one shortly after. Been getting iPhones ever since.

I'm a grown adult with grown adult friends. We don't act like children over phones.

what does taking care of your phone have anything to do with preventing accidents (i.e. dropping it), which are unexpected by definition?

Taking care of it = preventing accidents. I had my iPhone 4 from launch. Dropped it ONCE. If you're not insane with your phone/aware of your surroundings, you can prevent accidents.

I've only ever had friends and family ask to see it. Until today, I had a guy walking by me in a fast food restaurant see me texting and ask if that was that new iPhone. It was uncanny how he saw it out of the corner of his eye and noticed it.

No case.

Guess what?
I dont think Im insane but I have dropped my iphone/phones before.
Not because Im crazy or like to destroy or not take care of my items but because of an accident.
I know its hard to believe but it does happen sometimes cause of that damn thing called gravity. That natural phenomenon by which physical bodies attract each other with a force proportional to their masses.

oh, ok. so accidents only happen when you're not aware of your surroundings, right?

I work at a retail store, I go to school, I go to the gym and.. I haven't yet seen an actual iPhone 5 yet. :( No one has had a i5 that I've noticed. All I see is 4/4S' .. And Galaxy S3' .. Pretty crazy.

I guess not a lot of people in South Florida care for it?

Give it another month. Guarantee you see it all over the place.

Hilarious.

Its a mass-produced, made in china electronics that everyone and their mother has.

Its not a Ferrari.

Lol at the rage and jealousy comments. Why would people be jealous of a mass produced product?

i try not to flash it around because i hate the invasion of my privacy that ensues when people play with my phone (they look at my pictures, they look at my email, they look at my facebook, etc.). it's so annoying. so i just don't let people **ck with my phone. only one person has freaked out on me (waitress at an indian restaurant) when she realized i had an iphone 5. only reason was because she wants a white one like mine but hasn't had a chance to get it yet. i didn't let her play with it.

People getting giddy at the thought of the general public noticing and appreciating their shiny new toy?

How pathetically materialistic a race we have become.

It's a phone. I'm sorry, but I loathe these people you see on the train who flaunt their new toys equally as much as I loathe the people who stand there gawking like a wide eyed, excited child on Christmas morning when they see you using it.

I've had a few people at work ask me if I bought an iPhone 5. Unfortunately as soon as I say yes I'm bombarded with apple hate lol

They proceed to announce how they hate apple for suing everyone and how the iPhone uses Samsung parts and would be screwed without them. I'm also referred to as an apple fanboy (even though I never announce my apple purchases and almost hide the fact).

I did point out that its gone full circle and that android users tend to be the rabid fanboys these days. Most of the time I smile it off and don't bother correcting their ill informed statements which they read in the daily mail.

Apart from android users being unable to contain themselves around an iPhone user, they are also very often stupid :)

I compare Android users to Celtic supporters.

They spend more time obsessing over their rival (Rangers) as opposed to enjoying what their own favourite (Celtic) does.

I also find that Android users in the main chose and see the platform as a statement they dislike Apple and aren't an "iSheep", more than actually because of the platform itself. The Android fanboys can't actually see that they've become the polar opposite of the very thing they rip the piss out of.

yeah it was like that around the 24th when I got mine, then the novelty of it wore off and now it's the occasional "can I hold it" but im in school so I have to be careful who I give it to and when I pull it out. I got it confiscated by security once in the lunch line for just holding it in my hand.
