Portrait mode is definitely more fancy but it’s also amazing in detail/lighting. None of my photos are edited for clarity. Are most of these just point and shoot with portrait mode?
Wonderful!!View attachment 787032 View attachment 787031 View attachment 787027 Yes, it’s edited heavily, but I’m loving the phone. Natural light in a breezeway.
This is a great shot and certainly one of the reasons I’ll never give up my DSLRs.View attachment 786504 I took this in 2006. I think it was the Canon 1D with the 400 f/2.8. How’s the bokeh?
I’m not trolling. Different cameras for different applications.
How are you all uploading pics? tapatalk on my max won't even give the option to post pics
Glad it's not just me. Hopefully tapatalk next update fixes it.Probably a bug on the max, i got the same problem , we are not the only ones.
Thanks! I enjoy listening to what they heard in the studio (or the concert). Lots of fun. That's some serious audio gear there sir! Must have sound like a concert hall/auditorium over there every time you listen

It’s not the camera my friend...this is all you!!! Granted a smartphone camera will never be able to capture moments like these from the same distance.View attachment 786567 Here’s another at 400mm (fixed lens). Like I said, different cameras for different applications.
It’s not just about bokeh. That is it’s not only about depth of field. Different DSLR lenses that are f1.4 or f2.8 for longer lenses will give you different results especially when there are some kind of lights or reflections in the background. You’ll get different shapes and shades depending on the lenses being used. It’s more complicated than just creating blur.Getting out of topic in this thread so this might be my last response about this. Only thing I could think of is difference in sensor sizes from a 35mm to a 21.9mm sensor which would have a wider DOF as you decrease the sensor size.
That's why there's bokeh slider inside the app that emulates a 35mm DOF because the sensor is very small that it cannot produce a good bokeh without that emulator unless your background is hundreds of meters away from your subject and the phone is within a meter away from the subject.
Last photo is metering for dark chair while other images metering from window IMO. Dark chair metering bringing up exposure and blowing out window.I took all of that into conideration prior to the shot. Both lenses were wiped completely. 8 Plus is set to auto HDR. I’m not intentionally trying to skew results. This can be recreated over and over.

Same situation as I previously posted and the same parameters. Both lenses wiped prior to taking. Both using HDR. No other settings tweaked. Took the best photo possible under both exposure situations. I gain nothing by trying to make one look better than the other. This is simply what I’m noticing.
