These cases could be made for any number of android devices coming onto the Market. Any smart phone manufacturer can put a headphone jack and buttons where these cases holes are located. Many are wanting to 'officially' beat Apple in the thinnest catergory and a few are almost there, minus camera humps and bumps.

This along with the screen protectors leaked a few weeks back are no longer likely to be 'exclusive' to Apple because we are being flooded with more and more Androids every day. So no. Sorry if I have trouble believing these 'belong' to an unreleased product.

The iPod touch like the iPad is a multimedia device. The iPhone's primary focus is being a..... well....a phone!

my antenna speaks a different story ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: redesigned iPhone 5 incoming. :)

yes cuz they'd make the lil bro better than the iPhone ...
Thank you, I've been saying that since some people started to think that all these rumours about a device with a bigger screen than the iPhone 4 could be related to a new iPod Touch.

The iPod Touch has always been cheaper than the iPhone, its specs have always been worse, and I don't see why it would change now.

If this were true, you'd have a helluva time reaching across the screen with one hand.

I wouldn't say the specs are always worse, aren't the processors usually clocked higher than the iPhone?

the iPod is more and more a gaming device and a slightly larger screen would make sense in that aspect.

of course if they are really discontinuing the classic, I am not sure they would leave the iPod line with a nano and a larger touch though.

4"'s in your pocket too much?

4" would not bother me at all. I am used to carrying a 7 to 8 inch item all the time. ;)

I really hope there's a nice new phone after all this time, but regarding these cases? Well call me a cynic, but is there any evidence that Hard Candy have ACTUALLY put down money, or tooled any machines for production?

If not, they've Photoshopped/rendered up a few pictures and grabbed some amazing free publicity whilst the hype reaches fever pitch?!

Possibly.
Interesting decision to have the 'iPhones' rendered in different colors though.

While it sounds like a big device. It's really not.
If I didn't have a real one next to it, I wouldn't have picked that it was any larger.

In order to be sure they're on the market when the initial rush of people go to get the iPhone 5 when it's first released, they have to have already made the cases. The ten days between reveal and launch won't give them enough time to tool up, make the cases, and ship them to stores.

So, yes, they've already put their money where their mouth is.

I kinda disagree that any smartphone's primary purpose is the phone... The phone part hardly even changes from generation to generation, yet they are constantly pumping up the GPU, RAM, and all sorts of other capabilities. I think the smartphone's primary purpose is a multipurpose handheld with always on data.

True enough! Can't remember where, been all over the net with this (dying 3GS badly needs replacing) but I do recall seeing a print ad somewhere for the "iPhone 5" that showed a swatch of available colours.

I'm in Oz so the outcome of all this will have to wait until morning, but I've never seen excitement like this for any hardware announcement.

I wouldn't be so hopeless as to 'threaten' Apple with my defection to Android, but if the 4S is all they've got I'll probably just dip into whatever the 'cheap' iPhone 4 ends up being...

Presumably the aerial will at least have been fixed ;)

Same brother. Rocking the assessments tonight though, so no doubt I'll be up to see the tweet storm.

It's never fixed if you're on Vodafone ;)

i tend to think everyones missing the revolutionary/evolutionary history for the iphone. the iphone 4 was revolutionary, and the next phone up (be it iphone 4s or 5) will be evolutionary. theres no evidence whatsoever to point to a fully redesigned iphone...and dont point to the "leaked design spec" sheet. the media and fanboys need to give it up, because theyre all gonna whine and cry when they were wrong.

The iPhone 4, revolutionary ? Because it was redesigned ? It was probably the best smartphone on the market when it came out, but that's not what I call revolutionary.

For me, only the first iPhone was. Then we've had a lot of nice updates, but nothing as groundbreaking as the first one.

There isn't going to be something as revolutionary as that, probably for a long long time. Once the market is established, it's evolutionary. Just look at desktop computers.

I don't know about the tapered design. Wouldn't it feel weird holding it in landscape?

Actually, I think the whole point of the iPhone is it's a book, TV, computer, wallet, camera, video recorder, phone... all in your pocket. When was the last time you lugged a camera around with you? Or dragged a fat hard-cover to work with you so you could read the latest NY Times best-seller? Please. The phone is one element. A friend tellingly told me yesterday he can't wait for the new phone. All his friends have iPhones and he's sick of carrying around a Blackberry, iPod and a phone. He wants everything combined into one... And there you have it. It isn't, well, just a phone at all.

I doubt the images of the cases above are for a new iPhone. Reason being there is no hole to access the mute switch. This looks Like a case for iPod touch

The only area at the moment where we will see mild revolution is in the software. Hardware is now evolutionary at best.

Assistant sounds good, but I cannot see people in the train or the bus, sitting in a cafe or coffee shop, actually talking to their phone. It's not like a call to another person. Self consciousness kicks in for 90% of us and it will just feel uncomfortable!
